hey everyone, many months ago my dad had throat cancer and went though some really tough treatment. he fought hard and won.......for a while. not it seems the cancerous tumor is now in his voicebox. they are now removing his throat and voicebox a week from monday. he doesnt want to get it done but if he doesnt he will be dead in less than a year. now with the surgery he will never speak again and will have a permanant trac (hole in his neck to breathe from) also his throat is very small from past treatment and they are using skin from his arms to reconstruct his throat so its alittle wider. the survival rate is 75% to live after this is done. they ae saying this surgery is more risky then open heart surgery. my family and i are all very worried and scared.....and ofcourse sad. i pray that his surgery goes well and he survives. thanks for listening(reading) everyone.

I will be praying for a successfull surgery and a speedy recovery.

Prayer Before An Operation

Father, as I face this operation, I come to You with my fears and misgivings and ask You to put into my heart the needed courage to face the day with unwavering confidence in Your goodness and protection. May the knowledge that You do not slumber nor sleep while I am in a deep sleep, be an assurance to me that I need not worry nor be afraid. Calm my nerves, put my mind at ease and, in Your mercy, forgive me all my sins.

Give to the surgeon a steady hand and the skill to do his task with ease and perfection. Give to my loved ones the reassuring faith that You are with us, the Keeper of my body and the Lover of my soul! Calm all their anxieties during the coming hours of my operation.

Into Your Hands I entrust my well being. All this I ask, Father, in the Name of Jesus and through the merits of His Most Precious Blood.

Amen

prayers to you and your family, one important thing you must contue to do is be there for your Dad...yes it is a difficult operation, and a long time for recovery, however i had a friend in Scotland who had the same surgery, it took him a while to recover, but he did speak slightly, and still enjoyed his Scotch.......be positive......charlie
