I just found out,,, did not know if anyone else was aware of this...
Nick Charles, longtime boxing announcer is terminally ill with cancer.
He was given 20 months to live,,, and is now on his 21st month.
I found this info on another site... great story on him...
I am sure if anyone is interested, they can Yahoo or Google him.
I remember him vividly on the Buster Mathis vs Mike Tyson match..
But he did many more great fights!
Just thought I would pass this on...
Sad news indeed......

Before SportsCenter took over the sports news landscape, I would watch five minutes of local sports then hurry over to CNN for their sports show, anchored by Nick Charles and Fred Hickman, who teamed to form the best sports duo on television.

I was saddened to learn that Charles (above, right) is dying of cancer. Sports Illustrated’s Joe Posnanski provided a great profile of the 64-year-old Charles, as he contemplates his final days. A sad story but excellent read by one of the best in the business.

By Christmas of 2010, he knew that the fight was over. The doctors said that one more terrifying round of chemo offered a small chance to extend his life by a couple of months. Charles said no. “Remember the look on Thomas Hearns’s face when he realized that no matter what he did, he could never slow down Marvin Hagler?” he asks. He decided then that he would spend the last few months fighting a different fight. “I want to feel everything,” he says.

i exchanged emails with nick charles a few months back. makes you count your own blessings. his attitude was positive and you can tell his relationship with God has played a major part of his life and his current outlook on what is ahead. still......seeing him talk about and hold his 5 yr old daughter gives any man a lump in his throat.
