As much as I'd like to say Greece- It's gotta be Spain or Brazil.

Going by present form you have to say Brazil and Spain
BUT
Italy wasn't in form 4 years ago :innocent:

That's true, the Italians were not supposed to win even though they are always at the top. Maybe another sleeper this time around, how bout Argentina?

Not with Maradonna at the helm.

I'd say the sleeper would be England. With Capello and loads of talent.....they will be tough to beat. Their only drawback is the media and that football mad country. If this team will ever get to the final 4...the fans and media will drive the players to the ground.

It would be a huge undertaking, but what about a pool on the World Cup? Not quite sure how we could go about it though.

It would be a huge undertaking, but what about a pool on the World Cup? Not quite sure how we could go about it though.

The way I run it at work is that I have people choose the two group winners of each group and then they work their way to the group of 16 all the way to the final. Points are gained by picking the correct teams in each stage. Teams correctly picked in later stages are worth more than those in the earlier stage.
You can actually win this pool without picking the WC winner if you can collect enough points throughout the tournament.

Not a bad idea. I kind of like a seeding thing. You place a number seed to every country involved, if your number 1 seed wins, for example, you pick up 32 points(since 32 countries are represented); in the case of a draw you pick up half the points entitled as would be given in the event of a victory.
The eventual pool winner, in this scenario, may also not have selected the actual winner.

Ahh la madre patria...Well Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Greece, Mexico , Germany, umm even England(ROFLMAO) have good chances...
But like boli so wel said the Mother County looks real good and they play as a team not a bunch of individual stars..
If Maradona supplies the coke, Argentina may be fast on the field but will always be on the lines...:innocent:

Even though they had a rough qualification, I'm picking Argentina as the surprise winner.

Costactc I was just ribbing on Argentina.. Its going to be a great World Cup.. Gonna catch some of the action while i'm in Spain this summer.. The cities become ghost towns when a game is on involving spain. Everyone is watching it in a bar or in their houses.. You know when there is a good play or a goal.. All of a sudden you hear a roar coming from inside the buildings...LOL

Que Viva Espana..

Exactly the same in Greece, nothing moving outside when the national team are playing or the two big teams- Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.
