Recently my ebay account was suspended because I was selling a dish 500 with a dual dish pro LNB. The reason it was suspended was because a yam head from echostar signal integrity department complained to ebay management. His argument was that the LNB used was a circular lnb that is only intended for "paid or subscription satellite service." Since I mentioned IKS in the ebay auction their argument was that the dish 500 can only be used to receive free FTA service over the internet and that the dish was not for "true fta" . I am not an expert but I thought the dish 500 could be used legit for true FTA IKS that is not a subscription service. I have to respond back in order to get my account suspension removed ,so I would appreciate some feedback on this matter. I assume the signal comes thru to the DN dishes in a "circular" motion so this is why I am getting into trouble (and I said "could work for any FTA box, viewsat, pansat, IKS, etc. etc.
Also ,is it not legal to broadcast IKS for your own useage such as watching sat service on your cell phone when you are using your own legit satellite account? Thank you
please PM me or email ,me at

Well, while you might be able to use your valid sub to recieve sat service and then stream that to your cell phone--that would not be IKS as we call it. (Think that that activity might be illegal soon too--the IPad is doing some streaming of networks that likely is going to result in restrictions of streaming from what I heard on NBC ch the other day).

As for ebay--it can set policy as it wills and respond to complaints with whatever they like. I'm guessing that you being suspended is a bit overkill, but from what you say you wrote, it sounds like they were justified. You should not have mentioned illegal activities (and that is what IKS is now concidered--justified or not), the sale of the LNB was likely legal, but with your comment of IKS you slipped into a grey area. If you had stuck to "can be used to recieve dish net" I think you would have been fine.

Technically anything with a Dish logo on it is owned by them, (even if you bought it outright) so technically anything sold with their logo has to be done thru an authorized re-seller or installer.

Had you not mentioned the “IKS” or "FTA" they might have ignored it, but now days they are watching, and are bullying online retailers to go after anyone trying to sell FTA stuff that can be used for IKS or as they call it “pirate receivers and equipment” for signal stealing of their programming.

Try Craig’s list next time but don’t mention IKS or anything to do with FTA.

Describe it as a used Dish 500 with twin LNB for reception of 110W and 119W, dont say a word about FTA or IKS, however if you didn’t buy it from a retailer other then an authorized Dish retailer and you don’t have a recite stating so then Dish still owns it, and if they installed it then don’t even think about selling it.

Try it at a garage sale in your driveway. (Private property, they have no say as to what you sell on your property)

A dish 500 is way too small to use for true FTA, and there's no such thing as true FTA IKS.... Since true FTA signals are not encrypted, there's no need for an IKS type system.

But you can use those LNBs as an aid to dish pointing, so it does have a legit role in true FTA and that that was only reason you used all those FTA boxes in the ad. And if you argue that you had no idea what IKS was and are so , so sorry that you used that term, then maybe ebay would let you back.
