Have dailup and just got a router to help me with my issues. Seems the router won't work with dialup? Thought I could just use it for a sort of hub, taking my internet connection and destributing it to my stb. Is there any work arounds to this sort of issue??? The router is an 802.11 300n Belkin, it has 4 lan ports and an rj45 modem port. It's just a little guy and the light just won't stop flashing amber...

Sure you can, you need to run set up a home or small office connection to establish your dial-up as the shared connection and your lan connection to run the network out functions, share the dial-up connection, and then plug the router in.
Belkin is even better IMHO, because I think all of them can be setup as an access point. the router will act dumb and even allow wireless connections easily. But first, make sure you setup the pc.

I'm all new to this stuff and have my doubts about pulling it off... Have only just got it so it may take a bit! Sure missing my iks though! If there is a step by step around I would sure like to get pointed in the right direction. Thanks for the pointers!!!
Happy Testing!!!

You would plug the computer into one of the wired ports on the router, and in your network connections panel; highlight both the dial up connection, and the ethernet connection, then right click and choose the "bridge connections" option. I suppose you could also run the internet connection sharing wizard as well.
You may have to turn DHCP off on the router, so it acts like a switch and wireless bridge.

Huh, never considered bridging but would bridging automatically assign ip's to more than one device connected to the router? I never tried so don't know. I have an old guide from almost 2 years ago here::
Using dial-up and a router (http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?28258-Using-dial-up-and-a-router)
some of the steps are to be sure it works for everyone, and many followed it. With your router you should have (if it's like my belkins) an option to set it as an access point. When you do it does all the router adjustments for you like turning dhcp off and such- just specify an ip adress for it that's not being used.

I guess you could do it either way.... I'm pretty sure you can let the router handle DHCP when bridging, but when using ICS you may have to let the computer handle it, and turn it off on the router.
