During a lull after the first bout between ALVARADO against NARH, I will be covering the fight tonight reporting to friends here in the Boxing Forum.

Jackson is presently interviewing the middleweights Ward, Froch, Johnson, and Abraham.

Sugar Ray Narh has just relinquished every chance to move up to more exciting championship fight in his division by quitting on his stool after the 3rd round when he got nailed with some power punches. It was a horrible three rounds. ALVARADO, still undefeated with 27-0 and 21 KO's got the win but it is not the kind of win he was hoping for. He wanted a clean win and did not get it with Narh making a fool of himself and others who thought highly of him before this fight.

A 10 bell tribute was given to Sir Henry Cooper, a champion who has moved on to a better place.

KELLY PAVLIK is now preparing to reinvigorate his boxing career as he goes after a Super Middleweight win against ALFONSO LOPEZ, 2109, 16 KO record.

More later.

ALFONSO LOPEZ looks impressive. he is connecting with his right against Pavlik. Kelly responds with some jabs and occasional right crosses. Lopez quick with combinations although while landing, there seem to be little sting. Pavlik looks determined in round two connecting with powerful left hook to LOPEZ's chin, who answered with a 4-punch combination. Wow, those "rocket ladies" are sumptuous.

Kelly is finding his target neutralizing Lopez' attacks. There is a lot more clinching in round 3. Early in the 4th Lopez resumes his attack in the middle of the ring. Kelly just suffered a cut on the right eye from a head butt. Sensing greater urgency should the fight go more than 4 rounds, Lopez intensifies his attack. Both men are now connecting with hard punches. Through sheer volume, Lopez takes the 4th round.

Lopez is pinned against the ropes after running away during the early part of the 5th. Lopez is tiring. Pavlik continues to stalk his opponent. Kelly wins the 5th. Although Lopez is clearly a lot faster with his punches, he is not as effective as the earlier rounds.Pavlik just connected with a big one. Three more straight rights begin to mess up Lopez. Pavlik leads in press scoring. Fight is delayed with low blow from Pavlik. Lopez looks more desperate towards the end of the 7th. Tough to score but it is slight advantage for Pavlik. Two more roubnds to go. Wow, one big left hook landed to Lopez cheek. Lopez is breathing through the mouth now. No KO opportunity appears for him. He stole the 8th round with several combinations during the last few seconds.

Lopez grets his 2nd wind at the start of the 9th; lands several left/rights, One big right by Pavlik. Two more. They exchange in the middle if the ring. Lopez scores a few more. End of 9th is another toss up. Last round coming up. Pavlik is first to connect, Lopez answers with his own, He just peppered Pavlik with lightning combinations. Pavlik connect big with short left hook. Lopez looks hurt. Big left hooks in succession. Another big right hook. Pavlik looks like a champion finishing the round. Pavlik steals the 10th and most likely wins decision.

Awaiting decision. Here it is. 95-95, 98-92, 99-91 - KELLY PAVLIK I AM RIGHT!!!!

Arce will have his hands full with the champion. Joe Cortez referees for the Jr. Bantamwieght Crown.

Vasquez is impressive with his 20-0-1 17KO record. Here we go. Arce throws first few jabs pushes Vasquez to a corner. Vasques very quick to counter. He has excellent poise. He just got nailed with a big punch by Arce. Arce continues his attack. Wins the first round. a huge left hook to the chin of Vasquez did the most damage. They exchange bombs early in the 2nd. Arce is finding his target. Vasquez is missing. Jorge looks composed. Vasquez connects for the 1st time. Arce answers with big bombs. Vasquez appears surprised by Arce's attack. Again, Arce takes 2nd round.

Arce remains the aggressor. They bump heads. Arce takes his time; renews the fire. He lands several more combinations. The champ clinches. Blod streams from Arce's head caused by a clash of heads. 4th round starts with Vasquez regaining composure but could bnot deter Arce who continues his aggressive style. They trade but Arce's output is higher. He has Vasquez in a retreat. Arce gets KO'ed with a big left hook at the end of the round. A 9-9 round. He gets up and gets set for the 5th.

He resumes attack but the champ is starting to gain confidence. Arce is reckless. He is in danger of getting nailed again. Lands a powerful left to the champ's ribs. This is a tough round to score. Arce is swinging for the fences. Wow.

Round 6 sees both men center of the ring. Arce again furious sending Vasquez to the corner. The younger man takes a lot of punches but seems unperturbed. Arce is beginning to show his age but his determination remains. Action packed. More of the same in the 7th round. Arce is starting to miss with the overhead bombs. Both men exchanging bombs. Incredible stamina for both men as they pummel each other. The match is pretty even to this point. The champ keeps his composure as Arce continues his attack. Arce furious with his body attack. He has outpaced Vasquez in punch output but the champ is more accurate.

THE MAIN EVENT IS ONLY A FEW MINUTES AWAY.

Paris Hilton is in attendance

9th round starts out slowly. The champ looks fresh. He was pushed to the canvass ruled a slip. Arce now wild. He is a prey for the younger man who is beginning to impose himself. The round belongs to the champ. The 10th is clearly going Vasquez's way. Only guts fuels Arce's demeanor who has a slight edge at the end of the round. 11th round coming up. Cut on ARce's nose has been stemmed. He seems to have a 2nd wind and starts with big shots, hurts Vasquez. Big straight left. Bombs Vasquez with flurries. Arce looking for a kill. Big big round for Arce. 12th round KO for Arce.

footnote: this is a incredible upset. ARce had fire and was the more determined boxer tonight, It was an action packed prelude to the main event.

SORRY I WILL BE CONCENTRATING ON THE MAIN EVENT.
