Marquez has accepted Arum's 5 million dollar offer to fight Manny in November!!!
However,,,,, Golden Boy who is Marquez's promoter... can match the 5 mil offer
with another fight for Marquez.... they want Ortiz.....
This will have to be worked out!
The Marquez vs Manny bout would be fought at 144 lbs.
Its a done deal according to the newspaper... Golden Boy just has to step out
of the way and give Marquez the ok.... I think Arum might line thier pockets to
sway them a bit. Oscar needs the dough.

On a sadder note: Lionel Rose, the first Aborigine from Australia to win a world boxing
title is dead at 62 years of age. He had a major stroke.
He won the title by beating the very renoun "Fighting Harada" from Japan.
He defended the title at the Forum in Los Angeles against Chu Chu Castillo... in which
the forum almost got burned down after the decision was announced.... a huge riot,,
in which i got hit on in the back with a beer bottle.... this was in 1968..
Lionel defended his title 3 times and was finally defeated by the great Mexican
champion Ruben Olivares in a 5 round KO at the Forum...(which i did not attend this time)..
He was truly a great champion... I remember him well. Did much for the Aborigines
in Australia. As we all know, they were highly persecuted by the white's in that
continent.. to the brink of extinction. Similar to what the USA did to the American Indian.

I am in awe of your extensive experience and knowledge of the boxing world, Rudee!

You are right on! Reports coming from all over confirm that Marquez is OK with the Arum proposal (which is essentially identical to the agreement with Mosley) with the exception that it will be at a catch weight of 144 lbs.

This puts Golden Boy in a pickle. They could still "match" that offer to Marquez pitting him against Saul Alvarez. And here is why. If Dela Hoya counters and lures Marquez, he would be seen as a "spoiler" and he will incur the wrath of the public. Secondly, Marquez would then be forced to leave GBP to take on Pacquiao. He is not keen on getting in the ring with Alvarez (a fellow Mexican who is a bigger favorite in Mexico). Besides, I do think that Marquez is scared of Alvarez. He believes (in his mind) that he has better chances with Pacquiao, for which I can't blame him.

Nonetheless, he is in dreamland to think he would come out as a hero with Pacman. People will not come to see him hoping for an upset; they will come to see him KO'ed for good.

breaking news: PPV gates for last Saturday expected to top 1.2 million.

Thank you Aqua... someone made mention of the fact that I was "wise beyond my years"!!!! which puts me at about 100!!!
Yes.. seems the Manny vs Marquez is a reality... there is bad blood there. And Marquez being the arrogant jerk that he is... knowing he
is getting long in the tooth, and knowing there is no other way to pull in a guaranteed 5 mil and perhaps part of the ppv... is chomping at the bit for this.
This will probably be his last hurrah!!! BUT WAIT!!!! I forgot!!! He can always fight Shane Mosley!!! Shane says he can still fight!!! ha ha ha!!!
Anyway,,, in my mind,, there is no way Oscar gonna stand in the way on this one... knowing Arum,, he will sweeten the deal for it...
This fight will make millions and millions... mainly, Marquez is the only one to really get to Manny.... Marquez mouthing off about how he won BOTH fights.
And,,, coming off the stinker on Saturday,, people need something new to cheer about and to look forward to.
Both Manny and Marquez chomping at the bit for this one. Should be a dandy!!! Roach says he can't stand Marquez... From everything i have read,
Manny really did not care for the rematch.... Roach is the one that insists on it.
So that leaves Floyd on the outside looking in again!! There goes another big payday. Somebody tell him there is a guy his own size out there waiting for him...
His name is Sergio Martinez.
We need boxing to pick up again guys...
How about a Ortiz and Cotto matchup???? Cotto too big? If they can agree on a weight,, would be a great matchup!

Why would they want to do that again??????.. Marques was great in his time... His time is over.. He does not have the speed nor the size to get it done.. Specially now after all those wars he has been in.. He is my paisan and just telling it like it is... He has the heart and all that that the Mexican fighters do...But that is just not enough..Not at this stage in his career.........manny needs to start facing some "young bloods out there...JMO...........

Its called $$$$$ Bolivia,, Marquez is the only household name out there..
Plus he is the only one to really hurt Manny. Plus some folks think he really beat Manny.
I agree,, that was a long time ago. Not much else out there.
The fight will draw. Especially if Marquez starts mouthing off.

As much as I'd love to see This match up Once again, I'd have to be realistic as well and agree with All of You that Marquez has lesser chance to beat Manny than He did on his last match. He ain't no spring chicken, and age inevitably catches on, especially when He is so cut prone from constant pounding. One thing We can count on, Marquez won't run like Mosley did, and fans will get their money's worth for the entertainment, and I guess Arum realized that after Saturday's boredom fest.
GBP has no option but to give in to this one and let It happen, and finally once for All Marquez can have his day, shut his trap, and hang his gloves laughing on the way to the bank....

Totally agree with you on that end Chido.. Let's just hope Marquez is still able to throw punches... If he is, it should still be an entertaining fight.. But a just dont give him a chance anymore.........
