I may be able to acquire another dish, and was thinking maybe pointing it to 30w... How's the programming on those satellites? I see that Fashion TV is on there, and lots of radio channels, but what about the rest?

If there isn't much there I'll just point that dish to 125w, or if the mount fits on my old STAB motor.........

I haven't tried for something that low on the horizon. Just looking at the channel list it looks like most of the channels in N AM beams are also on 97 degree Ku. I do miss watching Fashion TV at times (and PR mux/THIS channel on 99 C band dropped it too).

I haven't scanned Hispasat 1c/d/e in a couple of weeks. I'm moving my 6' solid east for Telstar 12 and Hispasat, I'll report back later. It would be great if you could use your old stabb motor.

Thanks.... Not really anything I would set up a fixed dish for, but if that dish mount fits my motor I'll make sure I have LOS to 30w for Fashion TV and maybe Cubavision. I kinda wish I had C-band LOS that far east though, if only for the radio channels; RNW, VOA, Radio Free Europe.

I didn't even think to document radio channels, a task for another day. Aside from Fashion Tv, Press Tv is good for up to date news and lots of movies in English on the KTV channels with Arabic subtitles. Lots of open channels on the Atlantic side but most is Spanish and Portuguese.

I know I like Press TV at times (from Iran as I recall), KTV2 (Canada home makeover, NZ travel and some BBC drama sometimes) and AlJezera English News on 97 Ku, so nice to see that there is alternate source for the first two--hope that does not mean that 97 will drop them, 30 degrees would be blocked for me.

on a non motorized dish the lnb skew is opposite of normal.

I already had the elevation written on the back of the primestar dish from previous playing,it was just a matter of dragging it out and getting it mounted on a pole once the monsoon stopped.I guessed pretty good with the skew and dish direction,I had it tweaked in about 1 minute.Quality 94% in heavy clouds with the coolsat,so that is wonderful.Good to see ftv again.

Do you have any other stb you could hook up? Coolsat are great stb for fta, I'm using one as well but signal quality is not indicative of what your actually getting. For example, anything less then 64-66% signal quality and your not watching tv.

coolsat 4k with euro firmware shows 75% quality,as a comparison.
One ftv show was in 3d,it said to put receiver in 3d mode,whatever that is.
The show on a regular coolsat fta was split screen.

I've seen those split screens on several sports feeds on c band. One side is hd and the other is in 3d.

They actually make adapters for this exact purpose now... It's just two rings that attach to the motor shaft and increase the diameter to 3".

Hello there I am getting all these channels exept Mega , what am I doing wrong, i have a standard lnb a 39 ich dish and a coolsat 5000 im doing a blind scan and im not getting Mega can someone help me

It was funny,one of the spanish channels had an anti-pirate tv commercial geared towards cable-tv tapping,from what I could figure out.FTV doesn't seem to be the same as the good old ftv they was once had on 97w.

Yeah, remember that these channels are intended for delivery to cable company headends, for carriage on cable systems.

I think ftv bit the dust on 30w,no audio/video.
If you scan fresh the channel isn't detected.

that would be telling.
ftv.com doesn't even list 30w as one of their sat sources.
the ones they do list are encrypted/c band.

Here is a footprint map of 30W, if you in the foot print you will get this bird.

And as others have posted the bigger the dish the more likely you will catch it, but it can't be below your visual horizon, no sized dish will see through the Earth.

rule of thumb is your longitude plus or minus 50 degrees.
The old primestar lnb has markings plus or minus 40 degrees for skew,which is even less of a span.

ftv is back,but the signal quality on that entire transponder (12052h) is bouncing all over the place.

The ftv that was on 97w was fashionone,the 30w channel is a different company/programming format.
