Just saw this in the early edition of the local paper..

Oscar has been in rehab for drug abuse for a couple weeks now..
Did not go into specifics... but he walked into the facility and said
he needed help.
Arum sends his best wishes.... (he did)

I guess TMZ broke the story... boy, do they have hounds!!!

I am one of those who admire Oscar. My guess about this is that he may have alcohol rather than drug dependency and it may be at its early stage. Substance abuse wrecks the mind and there is no reversal to its consequences. There is no cure either - not medically anyhow. Abstinence will require great discipline and determination. I wish him well.

At least he will be able to get the best rehab money can buy.But that will depend on his determination to get well.

People have personal problems, Oscar or any of us can be involved in this type of problem, lets not make fun of this. Millie, Oscar's wife happens to be a good person. Her family is very concerned about Oscar's problems. He spends most of his time in the island and we are sad about his problems. We hope he can come out of this soon.

alcohol is a drug

The most popular drug in the market, obsessed and compulsive is the sickness and believe me is not a joke. Ask Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan.

Not wishing to get into semantics here but while in the strictest sense alcohol is a drug, there is a distinct difference between alcoholism and drug dependency. First, alcohol is not a banned substance. Cocaine, marijuana, etc., are illegal. Peddling them is considered criminal punishable by incarceration or death, in some countries.

There are similarities, too. such dependency has no cure (alcohol or hard drugs). Rehabilitation has limited success. AAA (12 steps) for over 50 years has not had a success rate of 5%. Only personal determination and submission to "divine healing" could save an addict. There is no medical cure. Addiction is that deadly.

There has not been one single evidence, report, hearsay, or rumor, that Oscar is on hard drugs which is why I suspect it has to do with alcoholism.

There's no difference between one another, still a substance, this includes legal drugs. As I described the sickness, this mental and physical disorder can develop in other things that are not substance, such as sex, gambling. Alcohol used to be illegal also, the fact that it was legalized does not exclude it from being a drug. AAA and NA are doing a good job keeping a lot of users in abstinence which is better. Some are completely out of drugs and working to save others from this terrible problem.
