Its a done deal!!! Practically anyway... big announcement today..
Its Cotto vs Maragarito on Dec 3rd!!!! Big Rematch!
What was thought to be a career ending eye injury to Margarito.... a huge cataract
in one eye... Miraculously is healing up nicely.... One dr. said he should never fight
again... BUT,,,, Arum having had some eye work done himself,,, took Margarito to his
own dr.... and this institute said Margarito's eye has miraculously healed...
Did the Lord intervene on this rematch? Maybe he wants to see the fight too????
Anyway,,, Margarito just has to go through one more eye exam and pass it for the
fight to be official.
(hope we don't see Margarito selling pencils on the corner with his eye seeing dog
someday!!! Have seen it with fighters before.)
Both fighters will be ringside at the Chavez Jr fight.
To my good Puerto Ricas friends,,, Its redemption time!!!
Margarito says he is chomping at the bit!!! Says he can't wait!!
Should be good damas y caballeros!!!!
Mexico vs Puerto Rico all over again!!!
Hope I made somebodys day!.

Bud, certainly made my day. I want to see this rematch, this time is showtime. No plastic of paris, no excuses for anyone. After we beat Margaro, we want Manny. You may see Antonio selling something in Tijuana after this one.

I am a fan of Cotto and if he can get by a beat down Margarito, I don't really want to see another fight with him against Pacquiao. Not at this time anyway. Cotto took a beating during that fight and I really don't want to see a repeat of that again. I would rather see Cotto in a competitive fight. Maybe a fight with someone like Clottey, who he was competitive with, that I don't think Cotto really beat, or even better yet, a fight with someone like Victor Ortiz. If he can get by someone like Ortiz then maybe he is worthy of another fight against Pacquiao. Since Cotto fight with Pacquiao, he hasn't really fought anyone to indicate that is is worthy of another fight with him.

Of all the latest Paquiaos fights, Cotto was the only one who engaged him till the end and walked out without a serious injury. He took everything Manny had and gave him some, even though he was drained out of HIS welterweight tiltle. This time with the help of a great corner and at an even weight, things will be different. Cotto's 2 defeats came out of Margaritos plaster's hands and Paquiao's made to order title's stealing conspiracy. I think he deserves a rematch.

Fib,,,, thats an out...... noone ever said Margarito used padded gloves against Cotto... and Cotto had cornermen there.... Shane did NOT have cornermen there...
I agree with Yogi.... the fight against Mayorga was a waste of time and a money maker for Cotto.... did nothing to enhance his chances against Manny.
I do say,,,, as I have said before.. I like Cotto against Magarito...
The word on the west coast is that Margarito is blind in one eye and cant see outta the other! The California Boxing commission told Arum not even to come around here..
They would NOT license Margarito with his eye like that... almost blind... all clouded up! Manny did damage to both Margaritos eyes... Manny saw his eye and thats when he
asked Margarito if he was alright... apparently the eye was all red and couldnt even see the eyeball... according to the cornerman...
I dont see how one dr told him he should never fight again... and another said he is healed.... musta snuck in a quick trip to Lourdes in between.
Anyway... Teddy did get that one right... Margarito is shot...
I really hope this fight never happens... we had old fighters in the old neighborhood that would walk into the bar i went to and had to feel the stools to sit down....
make sure noone was sitting in them..... really bad cataracts....
As Yogi said... Ortiz vs Cotto should be made!!!! that would be a super fight.

Miguel Cotto Vs Antonio Margarito II: What Happens Without the Plaster?[/URL]
By Eugene Green
This fight is ironical on so many levels.
Cheating Antonio Margarito knocks out Miguel Cotto. Even several fights after, Cotto never fully recovers from the brutal beating he was handed down. In this less than perfect state, he comes back to redeem his honor. On the surface of things, the advantage is clearly with Antonio since, in dismantling Miguel, he ruined him physically and psychologically. The irony is that it does not guarantee him victory.

The disqualification may have robbed him of the “ace in the sleeve” confidence, and with no plaster, it is quite possible, much of his feared power is gone. To sum it up, it is a battle between an honest guy who has been robbed of his ability, and a thief whose exaggerated power had been reduced to a significantly lower level.
Both, unfortunately, are no longer elite.
It is especially unfortunate for Cotto, since before this fight, this Puerto Rican warrior has been on top of his game, finding a way to defeat everyone he faced, despite his vulnerability. He had been knocked down before, and always found a way to come back, truly earning his undefeated record by fighting formidable foes, not pushovers with overinflated records.
But one fight – and his mind, the whirring apparatus behind the high-performing frame, went into BSOD mode (blue screen of death), his healthy clusters only partially recovered.
The mental breakdown he suffered is apparent in all of his following fights. With Joshua Clottey, he struggled mightily, and if not for lack of Clottey’s tenacity would have been knocked out. Manny Pacquiao did a number on him, as Cotto could not overcome his hesitations to pull the trigger. His victories were lackluster and textbook, fear of exposure ever-apparent.
Perhaps, even more telling are his new tattoos, which now don the whole side of his body. This is a gesture of a man who feels that a drastic psychological change is required to shift into the winning gear, and so he marks the beginning of this change by the flying the flag of tribal ferocity, aka “his tats.”
Margarito, the ultimate archenemy of good, the mocker of everything positive and holy, has now been forsaken by the devil, who, as in all stories of good and evil, betrays his protégé at the peak of his power, plunging him into the abyss.
First, the brutal knockout by Mosley, then a beating by Pacquiao. His very limited boxing abilities are dwindling even further with age; he is losing whatever quickness and stamina he was endowed with in his youth.
Personally, I could never put the two and two together for Margarito: how could a plodder like him knock out the likes of Cotto and Kermit Cintron, who matched him three for one in punch output? I guess we weren’t privy to a part of that magic Margarito formula.
The irony of this is that while it may seem Mr. Tijuana is the one with the psychological advantage, it is simply not the case. Without the plaster, he lost emphatically to Mosley and Pacquiao, so he is well aware that without his magic wand he is just another mediocre come-forward fighter.
He may also entertain thoughts of how he would fare against Cotto, who dominated him very thoroughly throughout the bout. Besides, consider how pissed Cotto is at him for derailing his career, and how hard he is training.
No doubt about it, Cotto will be coming to ravage his soul, to squeeze every drop of it out of him, in exacting revenge over the great injustice he had suffered at the Mexican’s hands.
There is something so Hollywood about this showdown, and its preceding history. The biggest drama is not in Margarito’s betrayal of the sport, and not in Cotto’s downward slide from the ranks of the best. It is not even about the good guy vs. the bad; although certainly the two figures couldn’t be represent more polar opposites of each other.
It is about a rise of, to put it very dramatically, an angel and a demon, locked inside of the same damp cellar of obscurity. Inch by inch, they are clawing their way back to the top, fighting for their own causes, hungry for redemption.
Will it be a little too late?
Are they so past the prime that no chance for them exists to make it to the very top?
That is quite possible. But you and I, my friend – we want it to be different, right?
I'm not the only one writing about the fact that Margarito was using plastic of paris way before the Mosley encounter. The cut in Cottos's mouth required something like 45 stiches, like if the beating came from a LA cop.

cotto was beat badly by margarito. it has never been proved he had plaster in his gloves.he was beat just as bad by manny who has been accused of using peds. people will invent these baseless accusations because their fighters have been beat.show some proof or just shut up because you are showing your ignorance.

I totally respect your opinion and your thoughts Fib... but as rokko said... it was never proven... so would not hold water in court. PLUS again,, its up to Cotto's corner to catch
this....if in fact it was true... which i doubt.. the opposing corner is suppose to initial the opponents wraps.
BUT,,, as i posted earlier.... Cotto HIT Margarito with everything he had.. could not make a dent.... so in other words,,, Cotto had his chances to end the fight by knocking
Margarito out.. like Shane did... he couldnt... hence he took a nasty beating.
Anyway,, Cotto will have a chance to redeem himself... too bad its under these conditions....
Anyway,,, I think we have touched on all this before.... time will tell.

Margarito hasn't had an outstanding performance since the Cotto Fight.... whether his hands were cast or not, that's a different story, and Cotto didn't leave an impression on Me on the Mayorga fight. Both Men have had The Pacquiao Touch and Margarito more so obviously. My Money is on Cotto, Margarito is risking His Sight and well being on This One, but I have that Morbid curiosity on The Outcome.....

It was after this fight that Mosley's seconds decided to watch closely the procedure in which Margarito's hands were wrapped, finding something wrong with the material used. Guess the evidence was Cotto's face. Only a piece of concrete could've done such a damage. I don't see any ignorance in that,on the contrary only smart people can make reasonable calculation to determine wrong doing by others. Investigators do it all the time. Mosley's peeps did, thanks to them Margaritos cheating was put to an end. Don't tell me he did it once, that I can't even imaging. We'll see how he comes out of this one without cheating. About Manny, I don't even want to speak about.
