View Full Version : Is the DigiWave Elliptical Dish 33" good enough for 110/118/119?

Hi guys, I'm trying to help a friend setup a dish for 110/118/119. He can get this Dish kind of cheap. It's a Digiwave, weird shaped dish. I guess it was made for 110/118/119/129.

I never used a Elliptical Dish before but I heard they are good for multiple sats. Here is the thing. Where we are we need a 32" Dish for 110 and a 30" for 119. How would this Dish work for us? It says it's 33" Elliptical, I tried looking the specs but there is nothing on the web site. I'm not sure if it's 33" tall or wide.

I'm thinking this dish comes with the correct spacing for 110/119/129 with the included LNB bracket. I also belive this Dish can be skewed by looking at the pictures.

Do you guys think this will work for us, I know that with my 36" offset Digiwave Dish I can get both 119 and 110 with good signal by putting the second LNB next to the other about 2.5" away.

But like I said. I'm not sure how this elliptical dishes work. I know that normally we need a 32" for 110 and a 30" for 119 to get signal even on bad weather.

Yes it should work fine for 110, 118/119 you just remove 2 LNBs (119, 129) and get the new 118/119 combo LNB for the 119 spot, aim it and tweak it you should be fine.

Now you said you need at least a 32" for 110, if this is a 33"x24" elliptical it may work.

Elliptical antennas are specially designed for receiving more then 1 satellite on 2 or more LNB's, they have a wider receive beamwith then a round dish.

If you have a 36" digiwave it should be the same as yours.

Well if I'm not mistaken, looking at the dish as it's in the picture. The LNB to the right would be for 129, then the middle one is 118/119 and the left one would be 110. So I would only use the middle and the one to the left. Is that right? I will have to find out what exactly are the dimensions for this Dish since their website does not have a specs sheet. It just says 33" elliptical

Actually I think it might be best to center 110 and put 118/119 on the right since 110 needs a bigger dish. or what do you think?

Always look from the back of the dish when positioning and talking about the LNB's.

From the back, on a 3 LNB dish or mount for 110/119/129, the center will always be the 119 LNB, 129 will be to the left, 110 to the right.

This is because the signal on the right and left satellite bounces and crosses over the dishes center line to the other side of the dish.

As for where to mount the 110 LNB the signal is the same for all 3 LNB positions, that is due to the design of the elliptical dish, but if it was setup to use a 3 LNB setup and you don't change the 3 way yoke to a 2 way "Y", your still going to have 110 on the outside right position.

And you will be centering and tweaking the dish on 119 and skewing it for 110.

Well I picked it up, and it's 33x30, it's not really elliptical like other dishes as you can see from the pic. The 3 LNB holder that it comes with says 101 110 119. Technically it should work for 110 119 129, but why are the LNBs side by side with no space in between?

I went to someone's house today and he had a ariza 36" elliptical dish but his was really elliptical and he had 110 119 129 with signal as good as my 36" with 1 LNB on a single sat, but on his dish the LNBs had a bit of space in between.

His looks more like this. But he has a different bracket
