this set up is at a buddy's place, he has 4 bev rec's coming off the sw44, I unthreaded one cable that supplied number 1 receivers 91w signal direct to a fta for testing, now none of the bev receivers have a signal? Did a check switch , no change, plugged cable back in all back to normal? how can I isolate the one 91w signal?

Use receiver ports #2, 3 or 4, the # 1 receiver port is the DC power for the switch, your FTA receiver cant power that switch directly.

And power things down all the way (unplug AC cord from the wall) or you can/could mess up the switch.

Thanks for the quick reply bro, I thought I saw a port that said power and didn't use it? Anyway if I just remove one cable, the rest of the receivers will be ok?

Arrgg, I think number one is the cable to the receiver, plumb'd through the walls. Help..

You need the switches power inserter (located close to the #1 receiver) to go to receiver port #1 on the switch or the switch will shut off, and most FTA receivers will not play well with the power inserter, so you will have to use one of the other receiver ports on the switch (2, 3 or 4) for the FTA receiver.

Ok called my buddie just now, I had 1a on the dish side hooked to number 4 on the receiver side with a coupling. Everything was fine with fta but the other bev receiver's had no signal or a few channels worked.

What you need to do is disconnect 1A and 1B from the input of the SW44 and install a 3x4 switch on these coaxes. Then connect 2 outputs from the 3x4 to the 1A and 1B positions on the SW44. That will satisfy the requirements for the Bev receivers and leave you 2 outputs fron the 3x4 switch for FTA use You will need to run a separate coax from the 3x4 to the FTA receiver

ok we are going to take one bev receiver off the switch, hopefully 1a or 1b can supply the two bev rec's with 91w and the other just the 91 w for the fta testing.

You cannot take 1A or 1B off the switch. If you do you will be missing either the horizontal or vertical transponders on all the BEV receivers. You have to work from the output side of the SW-44. The 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B are the inputs to the switch from your LNBs
Two things to remember:
1. You cannot connect an FTA receiver to the power insertor line (Port 1) on the output of the SW-44.
2. The SW-44 does not work well with many FTA receivers. It is hit and miss, and if it is not conpatible you will normally find that you are missing channels on either the H or V transponders when you do a channel search.
Connecting the system in the way I suggested in my previous post will work for both the 4 Bev receiver and up to 2 FTA receivers.
