After watching this fight, I have to be honest with you guys... I am not overly impressed by Alvarez... He has no jab.. keeps his hands way too low...
He does NOT have one punch knockout power.
Rhodes just showed up for a paycheck...
In my opinion Alvarez would have problems with an aggressive fighter that can hit.
He is good... but not really good. He shoulda knocked this guy out by the 5th round.
Even the fans looked bored.
What you guys think?

I am still watching it Rudee... You are right.. he has a long way to go and if he doesnt improve he's gonna be in for a short career... But if you notice they are just bringing him along...Kind of reminds of a "Jr" that fought recently....lol.. I am still waiting to see a new batch of those lightweight Mexican paisanos to rule the boxing world again... Like back in the day with the likes of, Carlos Zarate, ruben Olivares, Salvador Sanchez, Miguel Canto, Vicente Saldivar.....etc..etc.. But I guess it's just wishful thinking as I dont see anyone out there..........

Canelo had the opportunity to knock Rhodes Out many times, and the two cuts Rhodes had under His eyes should have been more than inspiration for Canelo to Finish his business. Canelo knew He was well ahead in the cards and let go on the throttle a little bit....I Honestly think the Ref stopped It too early on the 12th, but His View is Always different from the potato couch like me...Am I the only One that got annoyed with Those Corona Girls getting on Everybody's Face??....

I agree boliva...... he has a long way to go.. but he already has had almost 40 fights... shoulda already improved.. he kinda looked tired toward the end... just not convinced
he is gonna make us forget the fighters you mentioned.... I really feel Cotto would beat him if he was on his game... would be a good fight at 154.
The biggest thing about Alvarez is his lack of knockout power... Most fighters his weight have it.
Martinez would murder him... he is way too big for Manny. So we wont even go there.
Boy,, you brought back some memories with Canto and Saldivar... they were great!

I saw part of the fight and moved to watch strikeforce on showtime.Actually there seemed to be a fight with the fans that seemed to be more interesting.Alvarez is de la hoyas next money maker so they are careful who they put him in againts. They should put him in againts chavez jr. which I think he would win.

With Alvarez Being Only 21 y/o, I Can See major Dollar signs on De La Hoya's Eyes for a While....To Have The Event on Home Turf was a Plus for Canelo, and the so-so opponent as well, just a teaser for The World to Remember His Name for More Memorable Bouts!....As Good as Those Corona Girls looked, They still annoyed the crap outta Me for being in Everybody's Face!!....Nice Mamis Though!!

Actually,,,, i don't think it was a fight in the stands.. i think someone was entertaining the audience... they were all cracking up.. thru the whole fight... i woulda probably enjoyed
the show in the stands more than the fight... you could see the fans were. every round of the this fight looked like the last one. guy showed up for a beating and for a check.
This did nothing for Alvarez reputation... bet many fans turned it off. I almost did. They better pick his opponents carefully. This guy does not have a lot going for him.
Actually,,, the very few times Rhodes hit him.. seemed like it really bothered alvarez... he would back up really fast.
I was totally not impressed. They absolutely better teach him how to jab... otherwise he is going to take right hands all night against a good fighter.
I bet Oscar was not pleased... a good puncher knocks the englishman out early.. the one knockdown was a fluke... hit him behind the ear.
Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there!!!

Whatever it was it seemed more entertaining than the fight its self.Did you notice that they warned the ppl not to use the phones to record any of the fight and you could hear the boos.

ha ha ha.... yeah,, people recording the fight to put it on youtube... not much to record thats fer shur... i woulda erased this fight right off my ipad or whatever...
chavez vs canelo would draw big in Mexico... but you would kill off one goose that layed the golden egg...
ya wanna milk the hell outta these 2 guys... keep putting em up against bums and make lotsa money...
the latinos are paying the way for these two.. if they were black or anglo,,, they wouldnt draw flies.
Last time Alvarez fought in LA he filled the place.... doubt he will fill it now...
chavez and alvarez could hit each other for a week and not knock each other out....
people just have to quit paying to see these inferior fighters.
I said Alvarez reminded me of Ernie Indian Red Lopez.... just the facial features and the red hair... and thats it!
Cuz Indian Red woulda taken out the Brit in 3 rounds!!

I was reading that its possible that the next fight for canelo will be chavez or el perro angulo.Tough fight againt angulo as he is a bit slower than alvarez but can bang.I would watch it.

As I said before I am really disappointed in the new crop of Mexican fighters... As some may be aware of all the drug trafficking problems going down in my homeland...I think that has to do something with this.. As they can make tons of money the "easy" way and dont have to box to get rich quick.. Or as they say, die trying...Yes The promoters will suck up as much money as they can with both Canelo and Chavez... As most Mexican fans go with their hearts and not their heads... JMO........
