Thinking of buying an unlocked phone in the US

Just found out today that my cheap pay as you go phone from Bell won't work in the US anymore. They cancelled that with no notice last February.

I am heading out to DC in the morning and thought I might buy an unlocked phone from Wally World after I get down there since I can't get one here. The prices seem must better in the US.

So the question is, does anyone know what the best unlocked phone is that I could buy and use with pay as you go cards when I get back to Canada?

if your going to buy a phone from wally world, most likely its not going to be unlocked. But here is the good news. You can get whats called a Tracfone. Its a pre-paid phone for about $10 bucks US. Thats what i do when i go to the usa. Go to walmart, get a tracfone.... use it when i am there then when i get home throw it in the drawer till next time! If the account expires just spend the $10 bucks and get another one! Most likely your best bet! The phones that are at walmart are 9 times out of 10 NOT Unlocked!!!!

The only issue is that the Tracfone will not work in Canada unless you are living on a Canada/Us Border!
