does the dpp twin require a power inserter with a nanosat premium or can it be run straight from the stb?

A DPP twin by itself should be fine. It requires slightly more power than a regular DP twin. Where problems begin with these lnbs is in trying to use the lnb in to add an additional dish. You can use a power inserter if you want to. It won't hurt anything and will take a little strain off the receiver.
