Hey guys I was helping my friend add 129 to his 110/119 setup last night. He has 4x1 DiSeqc switch. We added another dish for 129 and put it on port 3 on the switch. There is S and Q for 110/119 but not for 129.

There is S & Q if we connect 129 direct to the receiver on the roof with the short cable up there. I also tried port 4 and nothing. I then replaced the switch but it's the one that comes with the Nano 2. CNX 4x1 DiSeqc switch. With that new switch I got the exact same results. I even tried just 110 on port 1 and 129 on port 2 and I get no S or Q on 129 but I get S & Q on 110.

What is so special about about 129 that doesn't work through the switch?

I used the same LNB he was using before for BEV which is just a Standard 11250 LNB

This is on a Viewsat Max HD. We are using 12516 to get the signal and yes there is signal if we bypass the switch. But why does 110/119 work through the switch and 129 doesn't?

We did not replace the cable going from the switch to the receiver which is what I will try later. Because I couple of days ago he totally lost signal on 110 and 119 too and he went up there and just checked all the connections and the signal came back. We have replaced the switch so I don't think it's just the switch though

I'd say it's the cable.

I think 129 requires the oval dish or a 33 inch depenfing on where you are at.Comes in good for me but i have a dish 1002 dpp lnb and a single dish pro, make sure all settings are correct for the lnb's you are using.

No 'S' signal = no connection with lnb. :)

I missed that the cables cause about half of the problem that i work on,you are right it replaced or tested.

I will try replacing the cable from the switch later today. Otherwise these really puzzles me. The only other switch I have is a SW21, I think is we also get a SW21X we can connect 3 sats to 1 receiver right? I'm not sure how it would be configured in the viewsat though. If changing the cable doesn't work, I'll try a different LNB. But that LNB worked on his switch before lol

It's simply odd that 110/119 work though.

Man this is odd. We went up there and got nothing from 129. We tried the other port on the LNB for 129 and bang we got signal. I replaced the LNB to be on the safe side and we tested all 3 sats up there and got signal on all 3. We went downstairs and hooked everything up downstairs and no Q or S again. I replaced the coax from the switch to the receiver and got everything working. I swear I never had so many issues on a installation. We ended up replacing the switch, the LNB and the coax lol

Glad you got everything working, all is new now, should be good for a long time now.

The SW21X switch is NOT compatible with FTA receivers.

I have experienced LNBs that had become "Stuck" and were not usable/compatible with other LNBs. Had 2 LNBs of the same brand on 110 & 119, then changed 119LNB to a 118/119LNB and the 110LNB would not work. Replaced the 110LNB with a new one and it worked? . . . ?

The joys of using diseqc switches.
The lnbs have to be a matched set or pretty close load wise,if one lnb draws more current than the other the switch doesn't switch.I had the same problem until I switched out both lnbs with another set from a dish500.Previously I had lnbs from the dish300 days and using dish receivers with sw21's they were no problem. The fun started once I began using diseqc switches and fta receivers.
