I got this dish hd turbo for free and I was wondering if I can use this for true fta?

Needs a linear LNB and it might be a bit too small if you live up north but it's fun to try.

We all will be here to help you with the project, so happy testing.

P. S. A motor would help too.

I know they make linear lnbs with the rectangle mount or throat mount.
Motors mount from the top.

You will be able to pull in the strong tp but others will not show up. I would recommend a dish of at least 36" and of course, as previously mentioned a linear lnb. Slap a motor on it and the sky's the limit.

If the poster's nick is an indication, the signal for SES 1 at 101 degrees for Dallas is not good enough for that dish--but really really close! The Turbo looks to be a 23 inch dish from web info I googled and a 27 inch dish is recommended for the region around Dallas. Looks like a 31 inch dish recommended for 97 degree G19 for that region.

Hum, I seem to recall being in about the same footprint as Dallas for 101 degrees and getting some channels on an 18 inch dish with a cobbled together 1x2 wood mount to fit in the arm of an 18 inch dish supporting a standard linear LNB. 23 inch dish should do lots better than 18--so I would think SES 1 is do-able.

Thanks for the tip. Where can buy a motor and a 36" dish?

I would go for a 39", it will work oh so much better during those big rain/snow storms.

Do some googling and look for a motor/dish (and maybe an LNB) package there are a bunch out there.
