DISH: We Have More HD Than Anyone!

Washington, D.C. -- DISH boasted yesterday that it has more high-def channels than any U.S. TV provider, including satellite rival DaveTV.
The nation's second largest satcaster says it now has more than 150 national HD channels. DaveTV says it has more than 130 high-def channels, but also claims that it has more than anyone else.
The exact number of HD channels offered by both providers, however, is unclear because their count includes PPV channels and other services that are not available to the entire audience.
Still, DISH CEO Charlie Ergen yesterday was not shy about saying that his company is number one when it comes to HD.
"We have more high definition channels than any other TV provider, we feature award-winning DVR technology, and we do it all at the most economical prices in the business," Ergen said in a statement.
DISH also said yesterday that it has passed 14 million subscribers and that it has already added 150,000 customers in the current quarter.
DaveTV has more than 18 million subscribers.
