View Full Version : What is the piece at the end?
i been on a building today which as off shore banking companies in it and took a pic of this setup, its the first time i got close to one to take a pic but i can't seem to find out what it does.

It looks like a "C" band or other band transmitter, could have been for an uplink of data back to the satellite.
I can see the letters TWC on it, but it's blurry when I zoom in.
just found more info and you are correct. . .is for up links.

It would make a nice private band modulator, all you need is an IF at 950 to 1500 MHz with your programming on it, but don't get caught as the up-link frequency's that the thing TX's on are monitored.
You can also use a high frequency secondary IF and get into the "Ku" band, one the 5 GHz is modulated you can mix it with another frequency and get a different one.
Say that you have that one set on a 6 GHz output, mixing it with a second frequency at 6.225 GHz would get you a frequency of 12.224 GHz. (that one look familiar?)
