ROYALS INK C KENDALL TO TWO-YEAR DEAL

THE SPORTS NETWORK

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals signed catcher Jason Kendall to a two-year contract on Friday.

Per team policy, terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

The 35-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Brewers and batted .241 with two homers and 43 RBI in 134 games for Milwaukee last season.

Kendall figures to take over the starting duties from Miguel Olivo, who became a free agent following the 2009 season.

The three-time All-Star selection Kendall reached the 2,000-hit plateau in 2009 and has spent his 14-season career with Pittsburgh, Oakland, the Cubs and Milwaukee. In 1,967 games with those clubs, he has hit .290 with 75 homers and 707 RBI.
