I'm going to try to build a Bluetooth RS232 transceiver.

I'm going to try to accomplish this with a Bluetooth Serial module I bought off of ebay...
I need to add the DB-9 plug. and maybe a power supply

I am trying to get the computer"s Bluetooth dongle set at com port 1 to talk to this wireless bluetooth connected to my Coolsat's RS232 serial..
I'm trying to eliminate the computer next to the receiver.
I'm wondering how I "find': the DB-9 bluetooh device.

Think it will work???

Um, personally no because you will need a "boot" instruction" but I really hope I am wrong.

Please let us know though.

Ya, I'm kinda thinking your right.....I'll find out shortly

DB9 RS232 Wireless Bluetooth Serial Module Slave 4 Pin.

I wonder if this one would have Boot instruct... probably no. (see Photo)
I'm too cheap to buy a dongle, I got laid off a few months back.
I'm lucky I have electricity to even run a computer.

I did a BING search, "bluetooth db9 adapter", and got quite a few interesting hits!

Well it's a good idea, but your going to need some type of software to set it up, this could be through the receiver or via a PC to set it up then transfer it over to the receiver.

Some questions, what is it going to talk to?

Do you have a blue tooth enabled router or PC?

And the range of some blue tooth devices is not very far so what are you trying to do here?.

And some receivers internal setup for dongles have DC power available at the DB-9 port, the active RS-232 data pins are 2, 3, 5, and some times 9 is the case ground, this leaves 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8 open for the dongle interface, as some manufactures don't use the RS-232 data interface to connect the dongle to the receiver, but the extra unused pins on the DB-9 connector to interface the dongle to other parts of the receivers main board.

I'd be interested if the poster will buy a "pair" of the transceivers to see if this will work.
It will cost more (2 X 50) but you should not need the proximity , since that is the posters endgame.

Please keep us informed....tks

The range with Bluetooth isn't that great, 15 feet maybe?

There are wired extenders available, serial over CAT5 is very commonly done, and the parts for it are cheap. CAT5 cable is much easier to manage/hide than a serial cable...
