"We would like to inform you of some very important information regarding your DISH network satellite antenna. Due to improvements in our technology it is necessary to upgrade your DISH Network satellite antenna. To ensure that you continue to enjoy your international television programming, Dish Network will professionally install and upgrade your antenna for FREE
Has anyone received a letter saying above? Have you called and got this upgrade done? I am wondering what exactly they do for this upgrade. May be I can do this on my own.

They are probably going to install a Dish 500+ or 1000+ depending on your equipment and package. That gets 119/118/110 or 129/119/118/110. What are you getting now with your Dish sub?

There's a chance that they would take them all down and away during the installation. If it were me, I would mark across the settings on the other dishes with a magic marker and take them down myself. Put them back up later. JMO

Also they can't come without your permission I would think so just ignore the letter for now. But yeah if it was me. I would take them down as well and put them back up later.

If it is going to involve your ability to continue to receive service, and it sounds as though it is, I wouldn't wait too long. They aren't going to the expense of a new dish and receiver for nothing.
They probably are going to install the easter arc dish 1000.4 for 61.5w, 72.7w and 77w. It will do 3 receivers by itself, so you may be getting a good deal out of this.

If you own the extra dishes then they cant touch them, they will only work on dish equipment, I would however hide all FTA equipment as some installers may want a bounty if equipmet is found to receive their signals without a subscription.
Do your extra dishes have a Dish logo on them?
If they do and you got them elsewhere I would dig up the recites or hide them also like Stman mentioned.
If you have 61.5 West now it looks like they may set you up with an "Eastern Arc" dish (72.5 and 77W), you can buy your own dish, but if they are going to replace it for you and install it for free then it would be a waist of money.
The new receiver will be able to pick up these satellites, but your current FTA receiver might not.

I would tell them to just mail the hardware and you'll call them after it's installed
tell them you don't allow people on your property without you being there for insurance purposes

I tried that when they wanted to upgrade me to HD for free, they said that one of their guys had to do the install and that they would not sent the equipment to me, I told them that a security guard would meet their installers at the gate, (it was me dressed up as one, gun and all) I escorted them onto the property, showed them the one receiver, they replaced it and then I escorted them outside to replace the dish, then they wanted to check out the other 3 receivers, I told them that I was only authorized by the owners to show them the one in the living room and the outside of the house and that was it, they tried to argue about it, I put my hand on my holster and told them to pack up and leave, they did.
I bought my other receivers installed and subbed them my self.

Then just hide the FTA receiver and don't worry about the DTV dish, they wont touch them, if they ask just tell them that they where there when you moved in, and don't touch them as you dont want holes left in the roof.

The new dishes (500+ and 1000+) require a heavier mast with support arms. If they want to re-use a dish500 or DirecTV mast, make them install the proper one with the support arms. I wouldn't let these guys work unattended, keep an eye on them to make sure the work is being done correctly, and that they aren't fooling around with anything not on the work order.
The only equipment they should be touching is the dish and switch that's being replaced. They have no business messing with DirecTV or other communications equipment present. Just hide any FTA receivers as other posters have already mentioned and you'll be ok.
