What are the prospects? What are the odds? Who do you believe?

I believe that Floyd is taking the chance of his lifetime but at the same time is showing the world the kind of boxer he is. If he defeats Ortiz there is no way Manny Paquiao can beat him. Manny is going down, while Ortiz is on the way up,bigger ,stronger, whiling to take chances. Mosley showed that if you move Manny can't get to you. His style is made to order for Mayweather, hit and move and defend. Contrary to what Cotto did ,Floyd will move and counter, the more punches thrown the more counter punches received. We all know how accurate Floyd is with his counter punches and his almost unbeatable defense. So lets wait for the result of this match and visualized the outcome of the mega fight Pac/Mayweather. I just read in Boxing Scene that Floyd is walking around weighing 150 pounds, while Ortiz weights 160 pounds, meaning that Floyd is getting ready without any major problem and beating the hell out of the sparing partners.

I agree with Fibroso......PBF will be at his best countering and moving..he won`t even think of going toe to toe with Ortiz. I`m guessing Ortiz will get pretty frustrated with the style PBF will use fighting him......but that`s the style PBF does best, it keeps him out of trouble when he`s admittedly fighting a stronger opponent. A lot of people will be yacking about PBF "running" around in this fight if I have my guess but it still should be a relatively easy fight for him point wise. But I`d still love to see Ortiz catch him. LMAO

Pbf still won't take the big fight and the biggest payday ever in boxing history..Maybe he wiil fight some more lesser opponents and still remain unbeaten..:noidea:

Thank you, you and a 72 million more will like for someone to get to him. Like I said, you will see a rehearsal of the Paquiao fight. That is why he is taken this match............

I like rooting for the "underdog". I was on ORTIZ's side when he was underdog against BERTO. I was cheering AMIR KHAN when everyone thought MAIDANA would kill him. So, unpopular as my stance might be, I like ORTIZ's comportment during the "faceoff" with Floyd. I thought that Floyd was a little lackadaisical and condescending. If he is underestimating Victor's "bad-ass" determination, he would be in for a real tough fight. And you, my friend, would be ROTFLYAO. :)

I can see this fight has taken over as far as promo and expectations. The Pacman/Marquez fight has been erased from the scene. No matter what happens, it will be a success. I can't even think he will lose this one, on the contrary, it will be his best performance. The largest payday in history is on the making. jmo

NOT MUCH BUZZ OVER MAYWEATHER-ORTIZ FIGHT

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

There’s not much buzz over the showdown between WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz who puts his title on the line against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 17.

That’s the word from Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission who told the Daily Inquirer “I’m not hearing much about Mayweather-Ortiz. Hopefully the buzz will pick up soon.”

Ortiz who has a record of 29-2-2 with 22 knockouts won the title with a twelve round unanimous decision in an action-packed battle with Andre Berto last April 16.

Mayweather, on the other hand, last fought on May 1, 2010 when he won a comfortable unanimous decision over former three-division champion Shane Mosley who was also subsequently badly beaten by pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao who won a lopsided twelve round decision.

Pacquiao, in an interview telecast on the top-rated KO Boxing show of multi-titled promoter Peter Maniatis in Australia said “there is a big possibility that by next year there will be a fight between me and Mayweather . I think the fight will push through.”

Asked how much he wanted the Mayweather fight as the culmination of his illustrious career, Pacquiao said “ actually I am satisfied with my achievements in boxing. If he fights me I’m okay. I’m ready to fight him. If not, nothing to worry because I don’t really need him in my career.”

Discussing his trilogy with Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12, Pacquiao conceded “it’s a hard fight and I have to train hard. But I’ve been fighting Marquez twice so I know his style and I will study his style” in preparation for the fight at a catch-weight of 144 pounds.

Pacquiao said “I expect the best Marquez on that night and I know he will train hard for this fight so I will prepare for that.”

The “Fighter of the Decade” and congressman from the province of Sarangani told Maniatis “I’m not going to stay long in boxing and after a couple of fights I will stop and focus on serving the people.”

"I have a dream", this one and the mega fight against Manny Paquiao. PBF is a natural, others are home made. He'll eventually get old and someone will beat the lights out of him, but not yet.
