View Full Version : What is the Best HD Receiver to use for both OTA and IKS?

I'm looking for the best all-around receiver that works great for HD IKS and that has a built in OTA Digital Receiver built in. I'm not using my TV because of the way I have set up the wiring in my house. All I have have are HDMI cables going to my TV, so all of the OTA tuning has to be done with a separate tuner. Instead of having a separate OTA tuner and Sat Receiver, I would like to combine them in to one.

Your suggestions and advice is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks,

O-W

The sonicview 8000 is best to fit your needs.

Thanks everyone. Can you also use the EPG to record OTA on the SV8000HD?

Good question..
If you have the channel available from the DTV scan and you set the timing to record that channel, I don't see why it won't work.

You are correct Satbum....

Thanks again. The SV8000HD seems to be the way to go for me then. A Channel Master CM-7000PAL lets you record OTA, but is $300, so that makes the SV a great deal!

I use the NFusion HD and it works fine also. I can record FTA or OTA programming the same way.

I'll put my 2 cents in for the limesat hd stb, not using it or any other stb for OTA though-awesome picture quality.

the Limesat HD doesn't have an OTA tuner and would be useless to the OPs needs, not to mention the price is way too high

Just thought I'd mention the hd side of the stb.

Does Dreamlink HD or i-link 9500hd or 9600hd have a ATSC tuner for OTA? And if yes would it record OTA channels as well?

Does the PVR in these unit have pause live tv function?

Nfusion hd you'll need a computer to run the fta side of things.
Viewsat you'll need an xfta router for the fta side of things.
Sonicview 8000 you'll need a hard to find dongle for the fta side of things.
Having tested an NF hd and a SV 8K, I would say the Sonicview 8k is best for your needs. It's the easiest to setup between the three and delivers what you are looking for.

you can also use real dishnet HD ird....vip 722....a bit expensive once you buy everything needed.....likely the best hd receiver and as long as you do not get a 722k model...you will have OTA recordable from the guide...and built in pvr that works perfect....and dual tuner

Just connect your HD antenna to ATSC tunner and use DTV scan the channels, some of channels cause the receiver re-boot if you want to use it for satellite at the same time.
