Hello,
I have dish 1000.2 with dishpro plus looking at 110-119-129 and viewsat max hd.
Is a DDP-44 required with a power inserter or the power inserter alone will work and give more juice to the dishpro plus lnb ? System is working now but I just want to be on the safe side of the dishpro plus power needed to work as intended. Thanks

I just set up a 1000 and it seems to be working/switching fine so far without any external help

Bigpineguy, yes it's working now but I just don't wan to deal with a possible new power supply for the vs/max. By the way I forgot to list a x-fta in my system.

Worst case, you can add another stb, or ird to help power the DP lnbf.... Ird doesn't need to active, just an additional power supply for the lnb...

my wish is a power inserter could be added to my system without a dpp-44 switch or another stb.

Maybe someone else could chime in on that...don't want to give you wrong info...

Personally I would choose the DPP44, but that just me.

The DPP44 is the recommended method, I'm not sure if anyone here is running the dish 1000 with just the power inserter. Keep in mind that you can't connect an FTA receiver to the power inserter either.

BPG, you've got a SV360P. They put out more power than most FTA stb's. :)

Sorry Satchick, but I don't understand what you mean?

You don't connect an FTA receiver to the same switch port that the power inserter is on.

I have 3 ports for 3 receivers, only use one at this time, one of the two remaining could be used for the power inserter ? Thanks for your input.

With a DP44, you can use all of them. Four ports you know. That's the advantage of getting the switch. :)

Is it true that the power inserter is to power the ddp-44 switch but not the lnb ?

No, if you look at the specs, it puts out significantly more power than that needed by just the switch.

Thanks every one who gave time and input, at this point I have a few choice :
Nervously do nothing
Use both switch and inserter as suggested
Try the power inserter by itself and face the music....
For now is choice number one.

That DPP LNB is a power hog. Most FTA receivers do not output enough power. I can think of only 2 exceptions (SV360Elite w/both tuners connected and nfusionHD).
I believe the best setup is to add the DPP44 switch with the power inserter.

As shown the power inserter is placed on receiver output #1, outputs #2,#3, & #4 can be used for FTA receivers.
Another option would be to place a provider STB on the first output of the LNB to power that LNB. The provider STB would need to left powered on at all times whilst you are using the FTA receiver.

Well, I was convinced by the many advises of this forum and for 45.00 I will have a dpp 44 and power inserter in a few days. Wish me luck and thanks you all.

That is a very very good switch for what you have, & a great price

The combined dpp 44 switch and power inserter set came, it's bigger/heavier than what I had in mind, the switch housing has heatsink on top,the power supply is bigger than my laptop p/s, now that I am in it, might as well finish the job. The addition could help some (don't know for sure) but I think its will consume as much or more power than the v/s max receiver that get the "power support". I am in the catch 22(?) now, lol.

I think you might have the general idea of the DPP44 switch wrong...
Or maybe I am just understanding you wrong.
Think of it this way. (This is just all hypothetical)
The DP LNBF's are like a light bulb that runs on 150 volts instead of 120
The VS receiver puts out 120v not quite enough...
The DPP44 puts out the right amount of power, especially when your using a 1000.2 LNBF & switching from one to the other.
Another plus is the DPP44 can handle 3 receivers. If you add a DPP34 switch, or two you can add more dishes & more receivers:grr:
