Cobra...
Somebody better hurry up and tell Justin Verlander that pitchers don`t win MVP awards...because that`s what he`s about to do, right after he picks up the Cy Young award. The Tigers just won their 11th straight with Verlander shutting out the Sox for 7 innings to get his 23rd win. The Tigers boast the winningest pitcher in baseball, they are on an 11 game tear, they have pretty much clinched their division, they are 4th in runs scored, 3rd in Batting Average, 4th in OBP and 4th in slugging percentage and yet TSN sees fit to only rank them #7 in power rankings while everyone else has them 4th.
From my perspective the Tigers get so little credit in Toronto area (TSN) that they could win the World Series, Verlander could win Cy Young and MVP and TSN would still rank them 5th-----right behind their hapless Blue Jays LMAO.

TSN

CHICAGO -- Justin Verlander pitched seven strong innings to earn his major league-best 23rd win and the Detroit Tigers blanked the Chicago White Sox 5-0 on Tuesday night for their 11th consecutive victory.

Verlander (23-5) allowed six hits, struck out six and walked two while becoming the first Tiger since Hal Newhouser in 1946 to win 11 consecutive starts and the AL's first 23-game winner since Barry Zito in 2002.

Victor Martinez hit a three-run homer for AL Central-leading Detroit, buoyed by its longest winning streak since September 1968.

White Sox starter Gavin Floyd (12-11) gave up four runs and four hits in 5 1-3 innings, falling to 6-2 lifetime against Detroit.
