hi guys as u know i had a problem in my connection so finally i got the ladder to go on the roof after some trial and error my conclusion is that my one of the switch is defective. so i got two chieta switch on the roof 4x1 one is lot thicker and one is standard so the thicker one is working good but the other one is having problem . i have two receiver running so when i switch the switches for different receiver the one that was giving me problem was also giving the problem on other receiver when i switch. so right now i have a switch that is from multistar says 4 in 1 diseqc switch frequency range 950-2400mhz so can i replace that defective chieta switch with that multistar?

also while i was doing trial and error i had another issue which i found strange so as u know i got two satellite up on the roof

1st satellite big fortec star dish that has 118/119 in linear lnb (giving me both satellite in 1 lnb)
2nd satellite bell dish with 82/91 setup.

now while i was testing the the satellite that has wire coming from 118/119 on both switches does have to be on same lnb point on switches ? the wire has to be connected on same lnb for example when i put the one receiver wire of 118/119 in the switch lnb3 and other switch i put in lnb4 i had very low signal quality and strength but when i put both switches of wire in lnb4 or lnb3 then i was getting the signal fine? so on both switches does have to match?

anyways my main issue right now weather i can use that multistar switch for quick replacment . please help me as i got the ladder just for today thanks

118/119 LNB is Low Frequency Circular Polarity, NOT Linear.

Is your dish system grounded? Lack of proper grounding can and will give you trouble with switching, especially when you have more than 1 receiver in the mix. The dish or dishes, cables, and switches should be grounded to an earth ground. I would suspect the "different ports" problem you are experiencing is due to the lack of ground and/or the LNB has become "stuck".

hi well it has to be the switch problem? because i did try that defetive switch for both receiver and it give same problem for both receiver. regarding the "different ports" that is not a big deal i can just use same point in both switches. but u didn't tell me can i use that multistar switch that i have as a replacement for my defective switch.

Yes, as long as that multistar switch is a diseqc switch, you can use it...

ok i wanted to know about 3 receiver setup i know that in other thread i open they told me i can do 4x4 switch setup with 3 sw21 switches. but some people tell me that 4x4 switches is only compatiable with few lnbs. so what is the best way to connect 3 receivers with dish 1 i have 118/119 (one lnb) dish 2 i have 82/92 bev

Scroll through your receivers setup and see what capabilities they have and please write them down so you will have for any future changes.

4x4 switches will work with legacy LNBs that use DC voltage to select polarity. Pretty much any LNB except for DishPro LNB's will work with a 4x4 switch. Using two 4x4 switches and three SW21's is probably the easiest way to connect three receivers with your current equipment.

Hi satchick thanks for ur reply. i appreciate. ok following are my dishes and lnb

Dish 1 - fortec star white color dish with 1 Circular Dual Lnb giving me 118/119 both in one lnb

Dish 2 - Standard bell dish with 2 lnbs

- 1st lnb is programme for 82 satellite and it is Dish network Digital LNBF

- 2nd lnb is bell express vu dual LNBF

So those are my above dish and lnbs

For switches I am currently using 2 switches

- chitea 4x1 switch

and

- multistar 4x1 switch

Earlier i had a problem in my switch intially i had two chieta switches but suddenly on one receiver i was having problem of weak signal on few channels but other channels were fine. so after some trial and error i found out which was a defective switch and i replace it with the multistar switch now both receivers having great signal and no problem. my only thing is i have to add 3rd receiver so what to do for that. In spare i got 2 zinwell 4x4 switches.

Thanks all ur help and taking time i am looking forward for your reply.

ok, so use one 4x4 switch for 92/91, and the other for 118/119. You'll then use your existing 4x1 switches to connect to the first two receivers, and either use a third 4x1, or an SW21 to connect the third.

hi guys i have question for my thired receiver setup . i need to run a cable from roof to my room so if somebody can tell me this will be a correct cable. or do i have to go with rg59?
also i want to make a connection from my 2 zinwell switches to 2 4x1 switches and 1 sw21 switch , so i need 6 1ft cable so i don't have a tool to make those short cables any idea where i can find on ebay those custom made cables or will i get rg59 rg6 cable? thanks guys for ur help

Thats not the good RG-6, it's the CCS (copper coated steel) center conductor, it's OK for short runs though

And look here for the 1 foot jumpers.

You have to use RG-6.... For indoor applications, the basic 1' RG-6 patch cable will be fine, but for outdoor applications you'll want to get the one with compression connectors.

Yes.

You MUST use RG-6.

RG-59 is a smaller gauge, so it has more loss at high frequencies. It's not meant to be used with satellite systems at all.
