Pancreatic cancer got him...A real loss...it just goes to show that Bob Dylan was right ... all his wealth couldn't buy him health. I guess I'll smoke a pint of tea a day.

It would be hard to separate the man from the iconic company and products he made. He was a micro-manager and chief product tester in an age of delegation. Apple cannot help but be a different company without him.

He was the founder / co founder of apple computers and founder of MAC,

You should see the movie PIRATES of SILICONE VALLEY

here is trailer to movie

Its all about Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and Bill Gates and how th GUI , Graphic user Interface all started.... The mouse.

Xerox actually invented the mouse and point and click but the big XEROX Suits were like.. well you gattta see it.. Im sure XEROX Today wishes they would of invested more $ in that test and not basically gave it to Apple.

also Microsoft had nothing.. LOL and they go to IBM and say they have the answers to all their problems.. LOL!

Then they show the famous IBM , Microsft negoeations this is what made Bill Gates the richest man man in the USA or at least in the top 10 in the world.
and whats funny Microsoft had nothing!.. They bought DOS from some hillbilly... LOL! Then called it basic or somthing.. Its funny though... They even come out and narrate the movie durring the movie... You gatta see it.

Also Bill Gates told IBM that he didn't want to sell DOS to them... that he wanted to license it for a fee, and LOL,, IBM felt the real $ was in the hardware and not the software and Bill Gates said .. sure....

Also,,, HP,, They actually had first crack and anything Steve Wozniak invented because he worked for them, and he took his prototype of his PC to HP and they laughed at him....

Also it shows the truth how back back in the day the altar was the the big computer and when you bought it you had to put it together and all it did was blink.

I remember my older cousins telling me about it.... They used to have Home Brew Computer shows sorta like swap meets and people would bring and show off what they invented.

Well Steve and Steve go there with there GUI but it had no mouse,, but it was still much more pleasing and interesting to look at.

Then Intel invests $100K into Apple. I don't want to spoil it for you but you can get it on any torrent site or netflix might even be streaming it.

Its worth watching.... Its really good and shows how Bill Gates stole the GUI with the mouse and basically all the stuff Mac had and went with IBM and other Computer makers in Japan like NEC and TANDY.. there were many at that time.. but the Point and click is what made regular people get into a pc.

Anthony Micheal Hall did a great job in the movie as playing Bill Gates also... I'm sure anyone who remembers the brat pack remembers him.

he was the move Vacation and Weird Science and Johnny be Good and The Breakfast Club.... he was the NERD.. Most people remember him from that movie.

However check it out.. its a awesome movie... The Pirates of Silicone Valley and its very historically correct about many things..

The LISA computer being named after Steve Jobs First Child.. but he said it stood for Local Integrated Software Architecture That was the PC BILL Gates wanted to get his hands on, he said it was going to bury Micosoft and he wanted it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure you will enjoy it. Let me know.

also yea that sucks to hear about Steve Jobs... He was a Pioneer that's for sure and the world would probably be much different today if it was not for him as far as technology goes.

Have you seen it? Its basically all about Steve and Steve and BILL...

Starts when Steve was in his 20s with a bears.. I even remember his quote.

Banks don't like beards..

I guess that's was back in the late 60s when many most young hippie types had beards.

Steve and Steve would take Acid or LCD or w.e it was in the movie..... To make them see colors.

You have to see that movie... Its historically correct, Steve and Steve used to make and sell the blue box.. Anyone remember those?

My Father even remembers those, You could basically call out long distance FREE!

Steve even got caught by the cops selling them but the police had no idea what they were.

So then Steve Jobs figured they should go into Computers.... Since WOZ was so good at building Computers.

All back then what I call the home brew days , b.c people used to build their own computers and when I say build I don't mean like today when you snap a CPU in a mobo and stick ram in.. I'm talking BUILD..... Buy many boards and actually have to right the code and use the breadboards to test em.

Even shows in the movie how when bill gates came out with his binary code its was loaded with paper.... rolls of lil paper with dots on it.

Awesome movie, I just watched today. Also a quote from bill gates..
A good artist copies.. A great artist steals..

Also what Gates says about IBM, when a company is that successful that get a sense that they can never lose. I mean I remember IBM was like the Pentagon

As I had mentioned before if BILL Gates would of SOLD software and not of licensed his Operating System he wouldn't be the richest man or 1 of the wealthiest men in the world.

Think about it.. When you buy Windows or a Microsoft Software... you do not own it. Its not open source like Linux. You do not own it.. you buy a licensed copy.

I like in the movie when the the one guy says this scene in the movie should be talked about in school and it should be like taught in history, b.c it was a huge gamble buy Bill Gates, however he knew..... It was software and not hardware ,,, that's where the $ is...

Also when microsoft was just some tiny rinky dink outfit.. Bill says right now we are nothing because no one needs us.. We have to make them need us.

and look at the world today..... People use Microsoft daily.....

Most computer people have seen this movie... Its really really good if you want to know how computers all began... Or the PC age.. The Personal home Computer.

Im not talking Computers for NASA or Computers for Sears or big companies / corporations.. the HOME PC.

Sorry I'm off topic, but to know fully about Steve Jobs and about how the Computer came to be you must see this movie.

The movie had a lot of Moody Blues music, which was interesting.
Red boxes were fun also, you could make calls from pay phones for free.
They had a .25 .10 .05 button that would play the correct tunes into the phone mouthpiece
when the operator told you to insert money.
The movie never mentioned or showed Ron Wayne.

I agree stman, Steeve was a one of a kind leader and visionary.. Micro managing is a lost art with CEO's he knew his company to the smallest details and would lead by example.. Apple and the world will not be the same without him..
We will all miss you Steve and thanks for how you changed our world..

Lets try to keep this on topic and respect this great man.. he made mistakes like all of us do.. Lets remember him for his great acomplishments..
RIP Steve..

Yea, Steve even put a call through to the pope, what pope I'm not sure

The most typical use of a blue box was to place free telephone calls ... Some of the more famous pranksters were Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, founders of Apple Computer. ... accent) and asked to speak to the Pope however the Pope was sleeping.

This sums it up best.

Steven Paul Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was the co-founder and chairman of Apple. He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pixar until it was bought by The Walt Disney Company.[2] He was the largest shareholder at Disney[7] and a member of Disney's Board of Directors.

He was seen as a leading figure in both the computer and entertainment industries.

Jobs was a Silicon Valley businessman most famous for his work with the company Apple Inc. His work driving forward the development of exciting new products such as the iPod has earned him some fans.

On August 24, 2011, Jobs retired as CEO of Apple. He suggested Tim Cook as his successor. Following Jobs' request, Jobs continued as the chairman of the Apple Inc.'s Board of Directors.

Together with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Jobs helped make the idea of the personal computer popular in the late 1970s. In the early 1980s, still at Apple, Jobs was one of the first to see the commercial potential of using a mouse to use with the GUI.[21] During this period, Apple had hired a number of other people to be president of the company.

In 1985 Apple's Board of Directors got rid of Jobs from the company. Jobs then started NeXT, a computer platform development company which dealt with higher education and business markets. Apple's 1997 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, where he worked as the CEO of Apple. He was paid $1 per year plus stock options.

While Jobs was away from Apple, he bought a small computer animation studio from film director George Lucas called Pixar. Jobs later sold Pixar to Disney and gained a seat on the Disney board of directors.

Jobs had health problems for the last few years and almost died before he got a new liver. People were worried that if Jobs died, Apple would not be as good a company any more. At his death, he was worth $8.3 billion.

I think its amazing after the Liver Transplant that he will still active, I know 2 people whom have had liver transplants and 1 was yearssssssss ago when they would replace the whole liver and the 2nd guy the just replaced a tiny piece of a liver, I guess the liver grows or something..

However my point is.. they were never the same after the surgery.

However Steve Jobs My goodness talk about having a spark.... With the $ he had he could of easily retired and been done, but not Steve he continued on at FULL SPEED ahead never looking back...

That is truly remarkable.

I think that the best thing that these visionaries provided was a path for others.
