Keep it simple because I am stupid. Single dish, single Lnb trying to find 129. I have a lock on 110 at 100% quality.
question. for 129 do I move the dish up or down, and right or left when standing in front of the dish?
Sometimes I think I am so stupid. LOL
thanks, Frank

Frank! It depends where do you live. Find your home here _http://www.dishpointer.com/ and look for azimuth and elevation of birds you are catching. But, for sure, to get 129*W you should turn your antenna left (if you stand in front of antenna), and elevation depends on your location.

This is where I totally get confused. I have a 30" dish with a poormans lnb hookup with 119 in the middle and 110 strapped to the left and a little lower. (left when looking from the front.) So I thought for 129 my new single lnb dish would have to be positioned further the the right. Azimuth confuses me even more. .dishpoiter doesn't seem to have 129. and all the numbers - and the dish only has numbers on the side adjustment. For sat 119 my location says Azimuth True 228deg. Magn 237deg. elevation 26, lnb scew 32. man too many numbers.
oh well I will just spend the next 2 days tightening and loosen bolts.

Could you unhide uour location? I suspect you live in South America. When you use dishpointer.com pay attention that there are birds located East and also West. I think you should look for West-ones.

sorry about that. I live about 200kms north of Toronto Ontario.

Well most dishes are pointed from behind the dish as standing in front of it can block the signal, looking at dish pointer you should select 129W CIEL2 then zoom into your location, this will give you a line pointing to the satellite, you can then use local land marks to help find the bird, for downtown Toronto I get an AZ of 239.6 degrees true (with magnetic correction added) or 250.1 degrees magnetic. (using a un-corrected compass)

Elevation is 19.8 degrees, this may be pointing into any trees or tall buildings close to the dish as it is low to the horizon.

in dishpointer go to "multi-lnb setups" menu, then choose 110,119,129 setup. this will give you all settings for one dish with 3 lnb on it based on your location
but if your dish is not elliptical, slim chances to get all 3 sat on round dish; no more then 9deg between the sat in the sky(129-119=10deg).

Good info but He is only trying for 129W, using a single LNB.

No, we may be getting somewhere. For my location 110 is at elevation 30 and 129 is at 20. Now does that relate to the scale on the side of my dish? I have 110 set at 30 now. If I put that scale at 20, now all I have to do is move the dish to the east or the west of 110. If that is correct now all I have to do is figure out is what 19deg. is equal to in inches. For example if I rotate the dish a quarter of an inch does that mean I am moving it 19 deg.

You asked for simple. Here it is Frank:

Buy a cheap sat finder. Forget all the numbers.
You can follow along the arc til you find your sat.

cheers, sneers

for one dish with 1 lnb just set elevation on the scale of the dish, set your receiver for 129 (ciel2) and move slowly the dish from 110 to the right(from behind the dish). when the receiver (in scan menu) shows quality will probabilly display the name of the satellite for that signal quality.
