I am a very happy camper with my Ilink 9500Hd,mIlink 9000P,Sv8000,Nfusion Hd ,X-Fusion
I have a 10 foot C/KU band with actuator and would like to scan the skys atads....
I had a Pansat 2500 and it was alright before I started with my sv8000.
Question
Would it be best to buy a Openbox receiver for $99?
I loved RTV that used to be on 123w a few years ago
watching all the old classic shows from at least 7 - 10 Rtv stations.
Are there that many Rtv stations anymore since 123w satellite not there anymore?
And how many HD stations are really broadcasting everyday?
I tried my extra SV8000 and Nfusion Hd but the only stations with loads of stations are satellite at 99w.
Would it be best to buy a Openbox?.Thanks NP
Yes for the money the openbox is a great buy.
RTV is on 137 (DVB-S2), 120 (DVB-S), 87 (DVB-S2), C band & 83 (DVB-S) Ku band... IMO they do not have the best programming anymore.
The openbox is the only one mentioned that will decode DVB-S2

Openbox is probably the best bang for your buck but there are also the manhattan rs-1933 and azboxes which will open s2 channels.

RTV is available on AMC9 @83w along with Tuff tv. I got it with an old 30" SC dish (linear ku LNB) until my neighbor built a two storey addition onto his house and blocked my signal.
Just so ya know.

So the key to these new receivers are DVB-S2???
Don't think the Ilinks,Nfusions and Dv8000s have it?........NP
No none of those can decode DVB-S2

I was saying that the Openbox has DVB-S2 and thats the Key factor
While the Ilinks,Nfusion and Sv8000s don't have DVB-S2.
I am sure from reading about DVB-S2 that many stations will be changing
to that format?
When I used to scan true Fta I never seen Fox News or Msnbc,,,Are they pretty much common
if they are not scrambed? And are the many Locals (abc, cbs, nbc and fox Locals}that are in the clear?
I just hate buying a box where my older boxes will be as good......Thanks.........NP

There is a new pansat 9500 HD that gets dvb-s2.

Msnbc can be scanned in on T12 at 15w if you can go that far east and the NBC mux can be seen on Amc6 at 72w. Fox channels on c band on Galaxy 16 at 99w, one of them is in hd.

Also this receiver can decode 16APSK, & can change polarity on an LNB

Agree totally! What he said...LOL DVB-S2 is HD

The other key on the newer recievers is that they can do mpeg4 as well as the older mpeg2 compression.

I think the only way to get those satellites are with a Horizon to Horizon 10 - 12 foot dish
I think I can only go as far as 50w with my 10 footer lol..........NP

Where do hail from? Most of what you will want to see is west of 50w. I haven't finished the hd thread yet but have a look to see if anything interests you:

Then your good to go. Most hd programming is on c band and if you noticed in my channel thread, there is always something worth watching.

I gottaaaa look at your HD channel guide
I always thought C band was useless (Kind of} a few years ago
Then I always thought KU band was the In thing with Fta for the last few years....
But I guess C band is back or it never left..........NP

Ku band was always more popular because of the size of dish required. C band kicks ku bands butt easily but not just anybody can put up a 10' dish. Although I have a 6' dish for ku band, 99% of my scanning is on c band. Getting back to the main topic at hand, an openbox would be a great investment and you'll definitely won't regret it.

What other receiver will get 4:2:2 besides AZBox? Openbox and the new Pansat 9500 will not.

Presently, only the azbox will decode 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 video compression.

For True FTA the Openbox is far superior then those others mentioned.
I have/had both the SV8000 & nFusion HD. Out of those I like the SV better because it has Blind Scan, but many channels I like to watch on my BUD are DVB-S2, which leaves the SV out.
My Openbox is an S9, but if I were to replace it, I would go for the S10. My S9 has an excellent picture

It will go along well next to my Sv8000 and Ilink 9500

Hmm. I'm not sure I understand your post.
DN & Bev wont work with a standard C/Ku LNB/LNBF I use a DMX741 & a DMX741U. The frequencies are 5150 for C Band & 10750 (DMX741) 9750-10600 (DMX741U)
DN & Bex need 11250 feq LNBF.
C Band is loaded with channels & there are sats almost every 2° I watch from 72° AMC6 - 137° AMC8 & get what radio there is on 139°
For DN & Bex you need an Offset dish & a subscription or an IKS box

My Feedhorn has a C and Ku band on it and there is also a Dik lnb hooked
up to the feedhorn.
Will have to adjust the dish atads since I know the dish is a tads off since the Home shopping newwork,QVC does not come in along with
C-span,but the shaperds station comes it ...........NP

What a waste. I'm a bit puzzled, why are you even posting in the fta forum if your input has absolutely nothing positive to add to this thread.
