Middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is desperate to cash in on his current stardom, so much so, that he would be willing to drop 10 pounds to fight Manny Pacquiao.

In an interview with Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser, Martinez acknowledged Pacquiao as the best fighter in the world and his desire to fight the Filipino icon.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Manny Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world,” said Martinez.

Though Martinez campaigns at a weight limit of 160 pounds, he feels he could make the weight to face Pacquiao at a catchweight.

“One day I woke up and I weighed 150 pounds,” said Martinez. “I told some media and from there the speculation of a Pacquiao fight took off.”

Thought Martinez would lose strength and power, he feels he would gain other fighting attributes.

“I would gain some speed,” said Martinez.

In the same interview, Martinez noted that a fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather would likely be finalized within the next two weeks.

“I am certain that fight will be made,” said Martinez. “Very, very certain.”

Martinez successfully defended his middleweight championship earlier in the month against Darren Barker.

Good post rokko....
The only problem with Martinez coming down to 150 to fight Manny is...... He would weight 165 at fight time... where Manny would still be at 150.
Pretty much like Floyd and Marquez...
Manny would be a fool to take that fight..
A floyd vs martinez would be the ideal fight... might be boring though.. both fight the same syle... both counter punchers..
would be scared to death of each other..
Was surprising for Sergio to say Manny was the best in the world... thought he would say he was.
Not after his last fight though.

he did not say anything about what weight he would fight floyd at--kinda seems weird to me that he would be calling manny out if he was in negotiations with pbf

Yeah,,, i think Sergio was hitting the cervezas here in California where he lives.... says he is 2 weeks away from Floyd and says he would go down to
fight Manny... HUH? next he will say he will go up to fight Dawson..
However,, I would think any weight from 155 to 160 would be a good weight for him and Floyd... Sergio is not too muscular,, he did not look that
big in his last fight. Floyd is more muscular... he would have no problem with anything above 155..
From what I saw in Sergio's last fight,,, I think Floyd might be a morning line favorite..
Sergio is 36... and looked it.

Like rudee, I think that Pacquiao wont fight him. Remember, "He is to big for Manny, we'll keep him in the 147 weight class". That was after they saw Williams hit the canvas with his eyes open like a dead frozen fish. Floyd will take this challenge, make the money and remain undefeated.
