The James Kirkland/Alfredo Angulo fight was fantastic!! It was amazing to see how Angulo could withstand the punches he took from Kirkland. It was also amazing to see Kirkland come back after being decked in the first round.
I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch for these two courageous fighters.......although unlikely.

The Bute-Johnson fight was boring. But this fight that you speak of was awsome.Congrats Kirklkand!
Like I said in another thread, the only reason this fight was any good is because both fighters suck. Neither one have any defense and they both throw a lot of ugly/sloppy punches. If you put Kirkland in with someone like Miguel Cotto, Cotto would shatter Kirkland's glass jaw in a million pieces.

I agree that neither fighter has great defence.....however when you have great power and can take the big hits as both of these fighters can.....they make for exciting fights. If you look at their records...it's hard to say they both suck.
Let me check their records again.......
No, I have to agree with my original assessment, they suck. Looking at Kirkland's record, I see he got Knocked out in the first round by a fighter that has no power. To say Kirkland doesn't have the greatest defense is a major understatement. He may have some power but he walks in squared up and throws a lot of punches that his on the side of his gloves. On a bad day, Cotto would tear this guy up.

Kirkland 30-1, 27 KO'S and Angulo 20-2, 17 KO'S..... pretty good records for fighters that suck. Yeah, Kirkland was KO'd in the first round by the 35 year old Japanese fighter who obviously had to have some power to KO him......certainly not the power of Angulo. Kirkland probably hadn't been properly trained for that fight. I can't see Cotto tearing Kirkland up. Maybe we will find out.....if Cotto can get by Margarito.

Yea, it looks impressive, but everybody knows that records don't mean anything. When you fight a weak level of competition, you can build up an impressive looking record rather easily.

Well BL i guess you have a point but i will take that fight any day of the week...Over the two latest debacles with the supposed Elite fighters PBadF and Iflop..
I thought it was good fight..!
On a side note that Pier Cote in the prelims of the Bute fight looked really good,,that might be a fight where you question the quality of the opponent but he looked real good...

Kirkland hasn't seen a boxer of the quality of Miguel Cotto, Angulo killed himself punching away all his strength in that first and second round. Cotto will not do that, Kirk will be an easy target of Miguel's strong jab all night long. After beating Margarito, Cotto will concentrate in getting a chance at a bigger payday against a better boxer than Kirkland. The way the P.R. champ is training with his new Cuban trainer will surprise the boxing world and will place Cotto on top of the boxing world rankings once more.JJMO
