seeing how I am at 1/2 tread life on my tires and the snow is ready to fall.....the salt will be laid and make the roads wet......what are your thoughts about tire sniping?

As long as it's only for the winter months why not - it will increase traction no doubt . If I had a choice I would probably opt for studs ( making sure that they are legal first of course).
Out of curiosity what is the approx cost ?

Out of curiosity what is the approx cost ?the cost is anywhere from $10-$25 usd........no studs for me....we don't have snow packed roads around here....plus I have an aggressive tread pattern for the deep snow falls.......just want a better wet condition performance for the winter.....

Goodyear has the patent on the "siping" machine and the ones that buy it have to get back there 12 thou somehow..lol
From reading on it.. Not worth the money to do it and serves no useful purpose on modern day tires and what benefits it does offer is on ice.. not snow pack or wet.
But that is only one site I visited.. Other sites may differ.

LOL... tsk tsk...I expected more from u cobra.. say it with pics??? LMAO..
I just picked up a new set of winters and they are siped from the manufacturer.. Most good winters now are siped to a certain degree.. Some of the test you see with the dramatic diference is with old or cheap tire designs..
Whats the fun of winter driving if you cant drift in the first place???

I have a rear wheel drive Lincoln and put a set of Goodyear Assurance triple tread on it and they must have thousands of sipes in them. The're the best I've ever had for hard-packed snow and ice but they are also a directional tire to clear the water out fast ( no hydroplaning ). I'm on my 2nd set now. If you're just worried about wet roads then I don't think the siping will help all that much.
Heres the winters I just picked up, cant be more siped than they come from the factory..
