CHANDLER GUIDES KNICKS OVER BOBCATS

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Wilson Chandler poured in 26 points and grabbed five rebounds, as the New York Knicks held off the Charlotte Bobcats, 98-94, at Madison Square Garden.

Danilo Gallinari added 21 points, two steals, and two blocks for the Knicks, who have won two in a row and six of eight. David Lee tallied 15 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists. Chris Duhon ended with 13 points and six assists for the victors.

"We didn't play our best ball tonight but we were able to hang in there and hold on to get victory," Gallinari said.

Raymond Felton had 27 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists for the Bobcats, who dropped to 1-12 as the visitor this season. Tyson Chandler finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds for Charlotte, which has lost three straight and five of six.

Ahead 86-85 late in the fourth, New York went on an 8-2 spurt. Al Harrington's tip-in off a missed Duhon three-pointer put the Knicks in front 94-87 with 1 1/2 minutes remaining.

Gerald Henderson made a pair of foul shots at the other end to make it a five- point contest. After each team missed a three-pointer, Chandler turned the ball over with a bad pass.

Charlotte capitalized with a Felton trey to cut the deficit to 94-92 with 22.2 ticks left on the clock. Gallinari made it a three-point game with a free throw with 19.2 seconds to play.

Felton's driving layup got the Bobcats within 95-94 with 12.2 ticks left. Gallinari made 1-of-2 from the foul line at the other end to make it two-point contest with 9.3 seconds remaining.

Gallinari then blocked Acie Law's layup, and Chandler made two free throws with 0.6 ticks left to seal the victory.

"We had a good look at the end. Gallinari made a great play on the ball," Tyson Chandler said.

The Knicks led 16-14 following a back-and-forth first quarter.

With the score tied at 37 late in the second, New York went on an 8-1 spurt. Gallinari scored the first six points of the flurry that Chandler capped with a pair of free throws for a 45-38 lead with 2 1/2 minutes left. The Knicks took a 51-45 margin into the locker room.

Duhon's trey put New York up 68-56 near the midway point of the third. Down by 10 moments later, the Bobcats ripped off six consecutive points to get within 72-68 with 1 1/2 minutes remaining. New York held a 76-70 lead heading to the fourth.

The Knicks led 83-75 just three minutes into the fourth. Charlotte responded with seven straight points to close the gap to one. Boris Diaw's deuce made it an 83-82 game with 5 1/2 minutes to play.

"We're in games with good teams. We're just not closing them out," Tyson Chandler said.

Charlotte went 5-of-18 from beyond the arc, while New York made 11-of-25 shots from three-point range...The Bobcats had won four straight over New York, including a 102-100 double overtime win in their home opener this season as well as a 94-87 win in Charlotte last Tuesday.
