Brandon Rios dropped his World Boxing Association lightweight title at the scales after failing to make 135 pounds.

And his bout with John Murray will only go on if he makes a weight limit Saturday morning that was negotiated between both camps.

Rios will only be allowed to gain 10 pounds before Saturday’s weigh-in; he must make 146.6 pounds by 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

Rios’ first weigh-in attempt came at about 5:10 p.m. on Friday, with him standing behind a towel and tipping the scales at 136.4 pounds. A moment later, he stepped back on the scale and saw the machine read 135.6 pounds, according to the figures announced by Michael Buffer.

He had an hour to lose the additional ounces. But his final weigh-in attempt showed him at 136.6 pounds; he’d not been able to make weight.

By Jim Dower: WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios lost his title on the scales earlier today after failing to make weight after two unsuccessful attempts.
Rios is still set to fight John Murray tomorrow night. However, that is contingent upon Rios not weighing any more than 146.6 tomorrow morning. In today’s weigh-in, Rios weighed 136.4 in his first title at the scales. He then came back later and still over the 135 pound limit at 135.6. For his part, Murray easily made the weight at 134.75. Murray can win the title tomorrow night, but Rios can’t.
Rios is going to have to monitor his weight closely tonight to make sure he doesn’t come in over the weight limit tomorrow morning.
Rios is a big favorite to win this fight. However, it won’t mean a thing if he doesn’t make the weight.

Note: Rokko you beat me to it by a minute so I merged my post to yours. No use having 2 of the same.

It seems like Rios can't make the weight anymore so we will probably see him up at 140 soon enough.I enjoy watching him fight as its always a good one to watch. The guy gets in the ring to brawl.I wonder who will step up to fight him.

He was to busy clowning around for the cameras that he forgot about his training. He will probably lose.
