The holiday season is a busy one for many shoppers, who, while trying to find the perfect gift, might be a bit distracted.
The experts are reminding shoppers to be a grinch with their personal information this holiday season.
Even though bank and credit card companies use security measures to protect against fraud, Justin Hwang, the associate VP of fraud management at TD Canada Trust, said you are your first line of defense.
- When using the ATM or making a purchase, shield the keypad when entering your PIN.
- Always keep your credit card or debit card in sight, as it only takes seconds for it to be copied.
- And with online shopping becoming more common than ever, watch out for phishing and do not give out account numbers or passwords through e-mail.
