Looking for opinions....
Hi guys & gals...looking for opinions about o/s options available to me.
I'm getting ready to build another puter, based on an AMD 3.6 bulldozer/8gb ram platform.I was trying to decide weather to go with win7 64 bit pro to utilize all the ram, as well as win7 functionality, or stick with xp pro 32 bit.I'm looking for the cleanest, quickest o/s to suit my hardware. Not a hard-core gamer, and multi-tasking will be moderate at best. Thanks for any & all input.
P.S...I have both o/s's already.

I use the W7 64 pro OS now (but on a Intel CPU and MB) and I like it better then my old XP pro OS, if your building from scratch just make sure everything is W7 64 compliant and has drivers for it so you don't have to put up with with searching the web for them.
The thing I don't like is making sure everything I add to the system (software and hardware) will work OK on the 64 bit OS.

Thanks bro...only ONE driver issue I can't conquere (printer),but that's a non-issue.How would you compare the speeds between the 2 o/s's?

XP is a little faster than Win7 but then you do not have all the pretty graphics either, really with that processor I would go with Win7 as the difference in speed is negligible anyway and it is quite possible XP might not even be able to utilize the new mobo and CPU to it's potential and in addition XP is about to become an abandoned OS anyway
regarding your printer driver, try installing it in windows XP compatibility mode and see if that solves the issue

Speed between the two???
Hummmm XP I feel is a bit faster with the standard software stuff, (web cruising, stuff like that there) but I run a ton of video stuff (I made one mistake in my first post, I have W7 64 Ultimate not the pro version) and I like the amount of RAM I can use, I'm using 32 GB on that PC and have excellent results with the video, HD and SD.

Based on the plarform I would question the not a gamer thing...
However win 7 professional 64 bit should fit the bill.
If you want to occupy more drive space then choose ultimate however I suggest you read the difference between the 2 as you might be surprised.
