LANDRY RETURNS TO LEAD ROCKETS OVER CLIPPERS

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Carl Landry tied a career high with 27 points and grabbed five rebounds, as the Houston Rockets continued their recent dominance over the Los Angeles Clippers with a 108-99 victory at Toyota Center.
Landry returned to the lineup after sitting out Saturday's game following a collision with Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki that knocked out five teeth in a contest last Friday.
Luis Scola ended with 19 points and seven rebounds for the Rockets, who have won 10 of their past 11 games vs. Los Angeles, including a 102-85 thumping in Hollywood on December 2. Kyle Lowry chipped in 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds off the bench for Houston, which has won three in a row.
"It was a good win. We certainly didn't guard anybody in the first quarter and they were very good. Between Baron and Kaman they really came at us but I thought we settled down and in the fourth quarter we made some big plays," Houston head coach Rick Adelman said.
Chris Kaman had a career-high 29 points while pulling down seven rebounds for the Clippers, who fell to 2-3 on a six-game road trip that ends Friday in Phoenix. Baron Davis finished with 18 points and nine assists while Eric Gordon donated 15 points for Los Angeles, which lost despite shooting 50.6 percent from the floor.
The Rockets led 34-33 after 12 minutes of play, and started the second on an 8-1 spurt to build an eight-point margin. Shane Battier's trey capped the flurry, making it a 42-34 game just over two minutes in.
LA got within one twice in the second but Houston responded each time. The Rockets used two Lowry free throws at the end of the half to take a 65-54 margin into the break.
Houston maintained its lead throughout the third and took an 88-82 edge into the fourth.
A Marcus Camby three-point play had the Clippers within 91-89 with over 10 minutes to play in the fourth. The Rockets responded with eight consecutive points, with Landry's deuce making it a 99-89 contest with 6:48 to go.
LA never got closer than six the rest of the way.
"You can look at the stat sheet and the difference was the free throws and they (Houston) got a big lift from their bench. Landry has been putting up a lot of points off the bench and I thought we would do a better job on him but we didn't. I used up my starters (in the third quarter) to try and get back in the game. We were scoring and playing a low post game and we tried to keep out of the open court," Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said.
