I have a Netgear WGR614 that has been my sole router for years. It has attached to it my desktop, printer and a Netgear powerline.
It is seldom used only with a Dell notebook that gets used some.
I have decided to set up another router to help with range and load since the holidays and more devices are now being used, and also may do away with powerlines that are used on the FTAs .
I have a new Linksys wrt54gs ver6 that I hope to use to link to the netgear.
Is that possible ?
I have looked thru the post here and have not found any answers that are unique to mine.
I appreciate any clues of where to start looking, or what to do.
I plan on placing the Linksys farthest away from my Netgear and on to a VS Ultra , that way I can do away with the powerline and also have better wireless reception.

Flashing the wrt54 with dd-wrt or tomato will let you use it as a wireless repeater.

Use the powerline in the far end,
hook the new router there,

Solution.1
Assign an IP in the same subnet, disable DHCP
Now you have a single home network

Solution.2
Want 2 different networks?
Example
Router1= 192.168.1.1
Router2= 192.168.2.1

Assign tha same name and password
to both routers. Now you can roam
wirelessly thru both routers. Tested OK.

Stan, looked into the flash for the ver.6 and its looks very complicated for this model? I dont think I can do it with my limited knowledge and may end up screwing up my PC or the least the router or both.
Although the flash looks like a super powered router. and probably should be done to the linksys and the netgear.
DssRuel , leave the powerline hooked and patch a cable to the Linksys?
Then another cable to the VS Ultra?
Where and how do I assign it a IP and disable the DHCP? on the VS or on the PC?
What is the advantage to having a single or 2nd network?

Pehaps its not another Router I need , but a wireless bridge or access point?
I wish to do away with the powerline and extension cord.
Looking for a wireless way to get IKS to the fta.
Thanks

shop around for a vonet, cheap, easy and reliable.

I have looked at them today, seems the extra router would be more trouble than its worth, althought I already had it but would still require the powerline to make it work.
I see the Vonet is made for several different FTAs but I guess will work on the WF also?
But the VS may be a thing of the past if it doesnt come back up.
The Vonet is cheaper than the Linksys bridge. And more compact looking.

Vonet is a nice gadget, powered over USB or AC
not POE whatsoever

Looks easier than a router, and still using the cat5.
I wonder what the range is? Is the guy in the video using a monitor for his TV?
I dont savy the language.

Vonet VAP11G nominal range is about 30M = 100ft (+/-)
video shows a wireless-client configuration

Life expectancy is an unknown with this always-on
cheapo devices, burn-out is a real burden
