A few guys around this site may remember that last year me and my 4 buddies celebrated our 21st anniversary of Widows` Weekend, a celebration of football.
Well, this weekend we once again will pack up our favorite lounge chairs, load up with beer, liquor and cigars and make the 1 hr trek to a quiet little 15 house cresent to Joe`s garage where we`ll live for the next 2 days--we`ll eat, sleep and watch football all weekend. We`ll be treated as every year to 2 football games on Sat and 2 more on Sun---with an added attraction of a hockey game on Sat nite.
Once again we`ll haul Joe`s widescreen up to the garage from the rec room, we`ll position the 4X8 sheet of plexiglass in front of the TV** (re 4 yrs ago), we`ll fire up the propane heater, make sure the garage drain is clear and in working order LOL, position our lounge chairs with our down coats for sleeping, check the fridge for beer. We`ll put in our food orders with the wives/girlfriends--it`s the same every year, Joe`s wife makes a huge lasagna, Paul`s wife makes Italian Pizza and we also have The Cobra`s Butt Fire Chili and BBQ Bratwurst. But that`s it for the wives--rule is, they are not to be seen or heard from the rest of the weekend (not that they`d want to anyway)---we are not to be bothered unless of a death in the IMMEDIATE family.
But alas, don`t feel sorry for the wives--it`s their weekend too !! This weekend my dear you can do whatever your little loving heart desires. You can take that 2 hr candle lit bubble bath without my interruption (LOL)--you can read a book---you can take my credit cards and go shopping, buy the shortest skirt you can find, the sexiest top on the market, get a sitter and go out for the nite---you can dance till your brains leak out your ears and your knees buckle----you can pick up a young stud and have your way with him if it suits your fancy-----on this weekend every year, I simply don`t care !!
But alas--this year as was last year there is but 5 of us as Kenny has passed, we`ll miss the idiot for sure-----but not entirely, we still have "his chair" as was donated by his wife last year. Once again it will be the target of our wrath when our team is losing and once again if the Packers win it`ll kicked out of the garage to the road. God Bless...we miss you Kenny.
Our football games at the side of the house will now have to be handicapped because of our #s-----the yellow snow all over the side of the garage will have one less name burned into it. We need another fool !! A few have tried but left "a runnin".
Joe`s quiet little neigborhood braces itself for Sat morning----when the cry of "ru ready for some football"? echos thru the houses----we remind them that we have only begun to defile ourselves.
