A few years back I connected my sons xbox to the web using a cross over cable connected to a router . He's flying the coop ( finally :D) and is taking his toy with him - he does have wifi access in the apartment he's moving to .

Can he turn on internet connction sharing on his laptop and connect the xbox to it or is there more work for me ?

thanks in advance.

If the laptop has a WIFI card and a LAN port you can bridge the two, the WIFI card acting as the main internet connection and the LAN port acting as a slave.

Just go to the network connections page and do a "bridge connections" follow the setup wizard.

That was easy - tried it on my eee-pc took a minute to setup but my Network Magic isn't happy with me .lol Looks like you can't connect via magic - have to go thru windoweeze , not the end of the world I guess .

Yah Network Magic is not the best for connection sharing, it tends to get lost and confused, I just use it for looking for intruders on my network and ignore the rest of it's stuff.

you can get a wireless adapter for the xbox, they are a bit pricey though

They have them cheaper on ebay

Don't think his girlfriend wants to spend any (more) money on the xbox .lol , if all else fails he'll take the dd-wrt router that he's been using to date .
