I can get tv on my computere with the cable plugged in. Is there a way to watch sat that is hooked up to the tv on the computer also? Without adding anything extra I know you would be watching what ever channel is on the tv. Just wondering if that can be done.

As far as I know, there is no way, usually the input goes from your computer to the TV ( via an extender or cable) and not backwards from the TV to your computer. You can plug the cable from your satellite receiver into your computer and watch it but that would not solve your problem. There is a new device called simple.tv announced at CES 2012 that you can get further details on, it may solve your problem but am not sure.

You can get a video input monitor board for your PC, then what you see on your FTA receiver you can watch on your PC, but they are expensive, it would be better to get a satellite receiver card for your PC, (just google for one) then you can watch what ever satellites on the PC/TV setup. (I don't know about IKS with a satellite card, so don't ask me)

If your TV tuner card has a composite input, you can connect your receiver to that input using an RCA cable... If you don't have a video input, you can combine the RF output from your satellite receiver (if your receiver has one, most HD receivers don't) with the cable feed. To do that, you'll need a cable splitter and a band stop filter for channel 3 or 4. The band stop filter is used to remove cable channel 3/4 so that the signal from the satellite receiver can be inserted without interference, and it also prevents you from backfeeding the cable system with your receiver.
The cable splitter would be installed backwards, with the INPUT connected to the computer's tuner card; the cable feed (with filter) and satellite receiver RF output connected to the splitter OUTPUTS.

Thanks all for the input I have some options to think and play with. Do have S-video input on the card. Thanks again.

So,you should be able to run a long S-video cable from the receiver to the card.
What kind of card is it?
