Boxingscene interviewed Bob Arum today-fresh from his arrival from the Philippines after conferring with Manny Pacquiao. He confirms that his instructions from Manny Pacquiao are to negotiate the fight with Mayweather - which is PLAN A. As Pacman's promoter, Top Rank will guarantee Pacquiao's purse subject to a profit sharing on the net revenue. The offer to Mayweather is sharing 50-50 on net take (after Arum's fees, of course).
What then is the problem? In his Boxingscene interview, he discloses that the problem is with Mayweather. It appears that all Money has to do is indicate who represents him. It is also as simple as Money sending a text to Top Ranks' main guy, Todd duBoef, to say he wants the fight! Without Mayweather's official declaration as to who is representing him, Arum is not prepared to sit down with GBP or Richard Schaefer, or anybody who could simply be posturing to get in on the action.
This all comes down to a "business" plan: one that must assure financial success. The principal expense is the guaranteed purse of each boxer. Then there comes all the fixed and tangible costs and numerous fees. Since Mayweather is not promoted by Arum, someone else must come up with Mayweather's guarantee. This could mean a sharing of expenses and profits. Until Mayweather comes up with his business team, no further talks are forthcoming.
So there it is PLAN A is Mayweather. Arum has indicated that he is not prepared to talk about Plan B until Mayweather makes his moves.

I beleive half of what he saids..... instruction from Manny, who can believe that. His cut is in jeopardy and he's trying to defend it by doing things his way. PBF will not allowed this to happen, walla...there's the stalemate.

Actually, it's all over local news in the Philippines. Interviewed in Tagalog, Manny confirmed that the next fight he wants is Mayweather. However, don't you find it strange that Money uses "tweets" to taunt Pacquiao but does not actually say, "Let's sit down and talk." Or at least say "Sit down with my 'promoter' to iron out the deal." He is completely silent!!!
Besides, Arum's "cut" is not in jeopardy. He will make money on Pacquiao's next fight - be it with Mayweather or against someone else in PLAN B.

I sure hope Arum has a bunch of "plans B-Z" in his pocket because I have a feeling he`s gonna need them before this is over. I`m with Fib in NOT believing much Arum has to say because let`s face it---Arum has only Arum to please, the rest, he could care less about.

Of course... PBF does a bunch of "smack talking" But when it comes down to it as I have said over and over...on over......and over.... It will never happen... He will always find an excuse to get out of it....What is the problem 50/50 is a fair share.........

No problem with the split, the problem is after Arum's cut...............

Well, a lot of people despise Bob Arum for being the way he is (greedy) but you have to give credit where credit is due. When it comes to making money - in boxing - the guy is a genius! He has orchestrated more mega million bouts than anybody else. Golden Boy does not come close! Don King & all the others wish they are just as successful as Top Rank.
Of course, he has Plan B! Knowing how Mayweather has (as Bolivia has said..over and over and over....) made more excuses for not fighting Pacquiao, Arum does not come into the OK Coral without two .38s fully loaded. Plan B will have Fib dancing the cha-cha and drinking margarita all day!

But just wondering on this doesnt his cut come from the 50% split???..And of course part of attendance and PPV share.. ... I really dont know this maybe someone does..

Not exactly! His "management and professional fees" will come from net revenue. Here is a simple analysis:
1) Revenue will come from live gates, PPV, Advertising, Promotions, Rebroadcast fees, Sponsorships, etc.
2) Expenses - (a) Purse guarantee to boxers (b) Media/Cable/Sat expenses (c) Taxes, Fees, promotions
Whatever is left after deducting (2) from (1) would determine the promoter's take. It could be anywhere from 5% to 25% as agreed by all parties concerned. What ever else is left would then be subject to the boxer's agreed "profit sharing" which in this case is proposed to be 50/50 split. Another agreement could be for the balance between (2) and (1) to be split 50/50 by the boxers and the promoter's fee to be paid from the boxer's portion.
Such being the case, Arum is interested in being the "only" promoter of the fight, thus assuring a bigger gross revenue for Top Rank.
In Pacquiao's case, Arum is so confident that the total gross revenue from this fight would be huge that he is prepared to "guarantee" his boxer a minimum take of $50 million. However, to assure a successful venue and maximize profits, he wants an additional "live gate" take of $40 million. If his fees are to be at 10%, that is $4 million more in his pocket. Because Mayweather is "his own promoter", he must decide whether or not he is willing to take the risk "alone" - without a purse guarantee. Or appoint another promoter!
The biggest problem in all this are the answers to the question: "Who is going to do the job (of organizing/orchestrating/planning/ etc." and "How would revenues/expenses/profits be shared?"
Mayweather has to put his money where his big mouth is. He may gamble $5 million at the casino or against Tebow but it is quite another matter dealing with hundreds and millions of dollars in such a huge business undertaking like this.

I am a Pac Man supporter but I think what Arum is doing is completely b*llsh&t. Arum represents the Pac Man so his cut should come from the Pac Man's 50% share and likewise to whoever represents Mayweather would get it from PBF's purse.

Arum is just doing what he should. Selling talent and making money. Manny and Floyd are the best talent in the world now so Arum will make a lot of money and so will Manny and Floyd. This only difference is Arum can never be knocked out.
I hope the fight gets made and everyone makes money and we get to see the real fight we've wanted to see for a few years.

No, it is not! It is a well-established strategy. ("Never deal with anyone who does not have any authority.")
Yes, it is! Such promoter's fees could come as a percentage of profit-sharing. If Arum is the only promoter involved, he will negotiate a percentage of 100% of the profits - AND guarantee Mayweather's purse ($50 mil).

You are absolutely correct!
If Plan A falls through, he will guarantee Pacquiao $25 mil for Plan B!!! His Plan C would be Mayweather/Pacquiao for November. If that does not work out, his Plan D would also guarantee Pacquiao $25 mil. Arum will earn his mega million fees just the same. Pac will make his $50+ mil in 2012 without Mayweather. Mayweather in the meantime is also thinking in the same term! He, too, could fight twice in 2012, with similar consequences + he preserves his "unbroken record".
It's horrible for boxing and TRUE boxing fans BUT.........It's all economics, unfortunately! (Oh, I forgot... ......HBO or SHOWTIME (whoever gets it) would also be laughing all the way to the bank!)
