Dan Rafael of ESPN reported just minutes ago that Mayweather obtained Pacquiao's private phone in the Philippines and spoke to him personally about making the fight on May 5. He did not elaborate on the conversation that took place but reiterates what Mayweather Ellerbe had intimated: Mayweather is set to meet Pacquiao May 5 at MGM Grand.
A Filipino TV network confirms that the conversation took place but did not elaborate on what was discussed except that it is about making the fight and splitting the purse 50-50.
According to the report Ellerbe confirms that Mayweather only wants Manny Pacquiao for May 5 and would not consider Canelo, Cotto, or anybody else. Martinez may be an option but only if Sergio agrees to 150#s - which is another cattle of fish.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., who for the past two weeks has been relentlessly calling for fellow welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to fight him on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, raised the chase...

We all see that PBF wants to get this on even if it takes going over Arum directly involving Manny. But as we also know, Manny is a Muppet of Top Rank and will only do as they say. If he had cojones to tell Arum to jump and get this done, forgetting how much money can be lost, we will be good. Doubt he will. As Cobra said, Arum can't be trusted, he'll have the last word....NO!!!!!!!

There are THREE (3) problems:
1) According to ESPN Mayweather told Pacquiao "no" on the issue of 50/50 split. Apparently, Mayweather told Pacquiao that "You will make more money fighting me."
2) He wants the defamation lawsuit against him to be dropped.
3) He insist on a May 5 at MGM Grand
In NEGOTIATIONs, dictating terms to the other party never works. It is a give and take process. A telephone call does not constitute "negotiation". It is hypocritical, preposterous, and disrespectful of the other party.
Honest and sincere intent can't be communicated in such a condescending manner. It questions Mayweather's "real intention".
It is like going to Iran and telling President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, "Hey get rid of your nuclear plants and I will give you $1 billion in aids and send you a Rolls Royce!" Or telling him, "I'll bomb your Nuclear Plants if you don't comply." It never works that way.
It takes tact and diplomacy to bring fruition to a huge undertaking. It begins with a contract or memorandum of intent and an invitation to a meeting by a legal representatives of both sides - WITHOUT grandstanding with the media.
Mayweather is foolish to think he is building up points with fans and the public with his antics. His credibility is flushing down the toilet.

Indeed his offering more money and he will make more fighting PBF that any other challenger. Very smart to try to settle the lawsuit started by Arum, we all know it was his idea to suit, after all he is the law man and always finds a way to make more money.
A phone call to a congressman, means your dealing with the highest person accountable to the matter you want to discuss, at least that's the way it is in my country. Higher will be the President. To bad that this person who runs the life of many citizens in the Filipinas is manipulated by an american hustler.
About Iran, you can't tell someone not to, if you do. Is like preaching morality in underwear....................
Any way, sounds like Cotto will be the one to beat Manny on the rematch.........destiny will prevail.

A few misrepresented facts, if you will:
1) Records will show that during the last two years, both boxers have made substantial revenue from their respective boxing events, with Paquiao's net revenue from his match with Marquez higher than Mayweather's take on his Ortiz's fight. Therefore, it is totally obnoxious for Mayweather to say that he is "offering Pacquiao a lot of money to fight him". Mayweather can't make as much money fighting anybody else other than Pacquiao.
2) Arum "starting defamation suit" is pure speculation.
3) Pacquiao "does not run the lives of Pilipinos". He is a civil servant - working for his people - not running them.
4) To say that he is "manipulated by an American hustler" is condescending. The Pilipino congressman would not receive world respect and recognition if he is viewed as a meek and stupid person and a slave of Arum!
To belittle Congressman pacquiao the way you did above is an affront to 90 million people of the Philippines and millions more around the world!

I know for a fact that a Mayweather/Pacquiao or Pacquiao/Mayweather is the same, even if you feel that the filipino man is better than the african american.
An event involving both fighters will make more money than any other, that is a fact.
Arum is a lawyer,Manny is not, so is obvious that the Boss told him to.
Government run peoples live in many places , specially in places where they elect a boxer to congress. To be a leader you must know how to lead.
Servant are the ones that work for free, there isn't many around.
I you can't make decisions, you're following orders.
His fame comes from being a great boxer. With all due respect, just like Spartacus was a famous gladiator.
I didn't mean to offend anybody less than 70 years old..... but they elected a boxer to congres, not me.
