I own a "Golden" , female, now 2 years old.
We love her dearly.
Thought I should mention "The Training Collar" I purchased about a year ago. Best $100.00 I ever spent.
Had problems when she was off leash, not listening to my commands, usually calling her to come back.
Being overly friendly, she likes to jump on people, knocking the old & the young down.
Used the shock part of the collar, its adjustable for the level of shock, the first time I put it on her, and now I still put it on whenever there is a possibly of letting her "off leash", bush, dog park, etc. but seldom ever have had to use it again.
It changed her behavior immensely. Now I call an she comes, (well usually).
I would recommend them highly to anyone that has a dog that will not come back when called.
And of course it could save your dogs life by not being hit by a car, or just running away.

Thru out my years of training dogs from beagles to all types of bird dogs even hard headed Staffordshire pits,a shot collar can be the only answer, but from my past exp you dog is full of "piss and vinegar" meaning it needs to burn off some energy before listening. Something I always did before even trying to work with them is take them down a old country road and let them out of the truck and let them run ahead of me or behind me/Sure they may run off in the woods,Good go down the road and call for them and keep going, they come running in somewhat of a panic thinking your leaving them.ALWAYS give them water afterwards tie them up take them home then work with`em..Watch this..
