dtv lnb ?? circular and can i mod it??

crazy q which i think i asked already...
i hooked back up a dtv lnb.. and scanned a bird and for all the tea in china i cannot get quality
my meter is reading high, signal 99& .
did blind scan most of the tp's reach 99&
can i mod the lnb .. or do have to buy a circular..
or is the dtv lnb circular ??

Some of the DTV LNB's are for a different band (Ka) and wont work for DN satellites (Ku), what is marked on the LNB?

The LNB needs to be for the 12.2 to 12.7 GHz band (Ku), and have an LO frequency of 11250, it also needs to be a circular polarized LNB, a linear LNB will not work, (11.2 to 12.2 GHz band) nor one for the higher Ka band (17-19 GHz).

And if the LNB is not for the high Ku band, or a linear LNB (low Ku band) you can't modify it.

i was just trying to see what i could pick up..
so close.. 99% signal 0 quality...
so i should put back my universal and rescan the same bird ??
if its circular i wont pick up anything ? i guess..

What satellite(s) are you trying for?

We've gone over some of the satellites that you can receive in your area of the world. Dish, Bev,(very large dish needed for you) and DTV(wrong type of equipment) use circular lnbs. If you look at lyngsat, the satellites that show an R or L next to the transponders are circular. If you are in the footprint and the frequency range is correct for the lnb you have, you can use it. Overall I suspect it's pretty much worthless for you.

my broke compass is looking like 58w ..
not really sure .. i just spun my dish and tried a lnb...
but i checked dishpointer and the direction i am pointing looks like 119w

well for starters i was just checking to see what i could pick up..
and i checked dishpointer but not all the info is correct..
it doesnt has hispasat listed 30w ,and 34.5w listed either ..
which i get 99&s 99Q some tp's i get 90s & 80q
niether is 78w , which i pickup hence my reason for checking for other birds..
but i will get a circular lnb.... so dishpointer still needs updating.. .. i have proof
so its just info i needed what else is in the sky and what to peek at
i will put back my universal and fiddle a bit ..
