DISH NETWORK AND NAGRASTAR OBTAIN TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST MYFREENEEDS.TV

Saturday 2012-01-28

On January 23, 2012 the United States District Court for the Southern District of California entered a temporary restraining order against the owners and operators of the piracy-based websites myfreeneeds.com and myfreeneeds.tv (“Defendants”). Very interesting reading, but not sure if Dik has accomplished anything here?

We have seen lots of alias's used on domain registries, and even if they found someone who name was on ftahq, doesn't mean he put it there. Someone could have used the name of some person they didn't like, knowing that someday it would come back on him? And even if this one person did register it, he may have turned it over to some one else?

IMHO, doesn't sound like there is any real proof here, just some leads

But in any case some good reading, thanks for updates AO!

The only thing accomplished is when they put the site back, it ticked the judge off. Now the subponeas are flying. Anything dik asks for they will get. That is what I meant when I said they should burn the site, open a new one under other ficticous registrars. The subpoenas will target IP 97.100.xxx.xxx. mfn would not have near the heat they do now (and LJ Since they were the official site) if it was not for the bravado, I did have to laugh at the banner they had flying for a while lol.

I got to agree with ya, ditch the mfn and start over!

A new site, new name, means no track record, and it puts diks lawyers back to square 1

btw, luv the avy....lol

Thanks for the docs, it made for some outstanding reading. At this point i agree with it being time to change their pr stance and close shop and comeback as new entity all together as making in attempt to continue down the path they have chosen will only result in further litigation somewhere down the road. Although i will say their banner did amuse me, really what more is there to be accomplished i think everyone knows they do not respect DN hell DN knows they do not respect them so what is the point in taunting them by coming back and acknowledging its them by posting in public. You would think a wise man/group would understand they have made their point and now its best to continue to taunt them by continuing their service and not throwing stones from their glass house/forum.

I said from the beginning who names a website MFN anyway? Flagfox told me over a year ago to stay off that site as it was on US soil, so i stayed away.

At one time when they were changing from one hub to another I looked up the IP the hub was connecting to in a buddy's router logs and it was connecting to a US site... While it did not last not long it still did. I am glad it has changed now but I think at times someone did not know what they were doing or got greedy?

I don't think the name of a site has to do with what is going on. And the name changes had nothing to do with the ip, it was changed because of court injunctions. The hub still is the same, just a different name. The site may have had a US domain, but the Japan servers do not.

Last word I got was they are working to come back. I can't say for sure, but I give an "A" for effort.

you have to really ask yourself is the website doing a service to it's patrons staying open or a disservice? In my opinion having to change a file for another file that works equally as bad does little than build up some resentment. It's difficult for me not to imagine that if my free... disappeared then the need to change files every two months might change, too. If that happened then they can keep the website to themselves

Then I assume when it comes back on line you will not log on there, correct?

well one could assume they are just being cautious but no one can say for sure what they are up to. At the same time, considering all the data at the old site is supposed to be safe it is simply a matter of procuring a new webhost and porting the data across. Quite often the webhost themselves will perform that service and unless they are transferring the data using a dialup modem the site should have been back up and running long ago.
