Just awaiting FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Pacquiao vs. Bradley

Although the formal announcement has yet to be made, you can bet that June 9 will be a match between undefeated Tim Bradley (28-0) against Manny Pacquiao. Talks are all over the place about this one.

Many who are keen observers of boxing believe that this is a great "tune-up" for the Pacman for a Mayweather/Pacquiao November 2012 fight. They say that Bradley is stylistically similar to Floyd Joy and it will give Pacquiao a good preview of what it would be like to face the boxer everyone is clamoring to step in the ring with him.

It would certainly be a test for the fighting congressman whose last two fights, particularly against JMMarquez, were disappointing for those accustomed to his devastating outings.

It is also an interesting fight since it is against a younger and fresher opponent. For Bradley, it is a great opportunity to be recognized and a chance to rise in stardom. Rather than sparring against Manny in preparation for what was thought to be a return match against Cotto, Tim would be going head-to-head in a bout where he is about to make the most he has ever made in the ring with anyone. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a name for himself.

But it won't be easy.

If Manny fights the way he did against Marquez, then Bradley has a chance.

Manny better wrap his hands right cause Bradley has a head like a VW. Sorry, another ho-hum fight for Manny, where he can only lose stature because he is expected to win. If Bradley even has moments of looking good, Mayweather won't sign for 50-50. How is Jinkey?

Let me give you my little observation. Bradley has speed and skill. He could do razzle-dazzle in the ring. BUT.... let us look at his record.

1) Although he is 28-0, his KO record is horrible at 12! He does not have a KO punch.
2) Why did he sign with Top Rank? Because he had a falling out with Gary Shaw. Why? He would not risk his record against Amir Khan, and earlier against a mandatory fight with Devon Alexander - stripped of his title twice. He also avoided Marcos Maidana by moving up in weight (to fight Abregu). He wanted to "win the sweepstakes" with Pacquiao. (Now he has.)
3) He was dropped twice by Kendall Holt but prevailed by UD - and Holt is not as big a puncher as Pacquiao!
4) He was initially awarded a win against Nate Campbell on a TKO but that was ruled a no-contest because of headbutt.

Does he have a chance? He will entertain fans, for sure, and get his big million $ payday but that it is. He will be 29-1 after that.

Dan Rafael just confirmed about an hour ago that Koncz has brought the proposal for Manny to fight Tim Bradley and that he (Pacman) has approved the fight for June 9, 2012.

There you go! Now we just have to wait and see the "hype" that will soon be all over the media.
