GINOBILI, PARKER HELP SPURS HOLD OFF KNICKS AT MSG

THE SPORTS NETWORK

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Manu Ginobili scored nine of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, and Tony Parker netted a team-high 22 points to lead San Antonio to a 95-88 victory over the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Tim Duncan ended with 13 points and seven rebounds, while reserves George Hill and Roger Mason chipped in 10 and nine points, respectively, for the Spurs, winners in five of their last six games.

David Lee donated 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who dropped the final two games of a five-game homestand. Al Harrington and Danilo Gallinari recorded 19 points each in defeat.

"When you play against a team that good, with those type of veterans...they've had probably the same core for seven, eight years, so they know what it takes to win down the stretch," Harrington said. "So I think maybe we should just learn from them."

After Ginobili's deep deuce broke an 84-all tie in the fourth, Chris Duhon missed a pair of free throws and a three-pointer near the three-minute mark.

The teams traded baskets following Parker's second-chance layup, and Parker added a three-point play with 1:06 remaining to push the Spurs' lead to 93-86.

Harrington cut the deficit to five with a jumper, but after Parker missed a shot, Duhon was off the mark at the other end with a little over 30 seconds to play, ending the comeback bid.

"[The Knicks] played well tonight, defensively they were good, David had an excellent game, and my shot wasn't falling," Duncan said. "But [Parker] stepped up, Manu stepped up, we had a lot of guys step up and play well. So, we got enough done to get the win."

The Spurs led 21-20 after the opening 12 minutes and were on top 50-47 at halftime.

A 9-0 run in the early stages of the third yielded the first double-digit margin of the game, as Parker's jumper made it a 59-49 game three minutes in.

New York battled back with seven straight points a little later. Gallinari had five free throws during the stretch, and his bucket with a little over three minutes to go provided a 64-63 lead for the hosts.

Ginobili's late trey gave the Spurs a 70-68 lead that was never relinquished in the fourth.
