I have a DN 722k with a dish 1000.4 EA already running. I just picked up an sv8000hd with 8psk and just wanted to add it on. I'm only interested in picking up 61.5, 72.7, and 77 and only have 1 fta receiver(sv8000) besides my 722k. Can I use port#2 from lnb to run my sv8000, since the 1000.4 lnb has built-in switches? Would I need a dpp44 switch w/power insertor or not? I've been doing some reading as I'm new to this, but I'm not sure what the dpp44 switch does(besides fta receiver power issues) and if I really need it. Will my 722k be enough to power the lnb's when I connect my sv8000? Do I need to use a dpp44 switch in conjuction with my 722k box? Much help appreciated.

No, you don't need the power inserter nor the DPP44 switch, as long as the 722K is the first receiver connected to the 1000.4 LNB's #1 receiver port, it will power everything just fine.
Ports 2 and 3 will work for any other receiver attached to them, port #4 is for a second LNB input.

Thanks Terryl. I wanted to make sure first, rather than screw something up now and regret it later.

Terryl, using the 1000.4 W dish can 3 FTA receivers (2 sv8k) work if you connect a power supply up to port 1 on the lnb and connect it to one of the sv8k receivers?

Terryl, using the same dish but the 1000.4 W do you know if 3 FTA receivers will work if you use a power inserter on port 1? I have 2 sv8k and wanted to connect 1 of them to port 1 to power the lnb.

You shouldn't use a power inserter on the same input as an FTA receiver. There isn't enough internal power protection on an FTA receiver to protect it from that extra power input. To put three receivers on that dish you will need a DPP44 with the power inserter on port 1, running the receivers on ports 2, 3, and 4.

Well, I connected my sv8000 to port 2 of my 1000.4. Went to dish settings: LNB Type=OSC-DP and TP12224. Set 61.5 on port 3, had good Sand Q (70's), scanned sat twice, and pulled 400 channels. Set 72.7 on port 2, also had good S and Q, scanned twice, and COULD NOT pull any channels- not even 1. I'm confused, any suggestions? If it helps any, my sub is a dual-tuner with a dpp seperator off port 1 off the lnb and my sv8000 is running on port 2 off lnb.
the 722 needs to be turned on ... FYI ..
also in the screen for 72 do u get sat lock ON the 72 SAT ???

No. I had a spare dish 500 and just went with 110/119/129.
